My Bar. I spent WEEKS creating that bar. Now I am sad. All my coding has gone to waste. Oh well. It should be able to work with a few tweaks.

Personally, I like Quick Links. I agree. I understand work went into the bar, and, yeah, that would suck for me if I coded it. But to be honest, I was never a big fan of the bar. I definitely wouldn't want BOTH quick links & a bar. But I definitely DO want "mark all boards read" to be available regardless.

Viewing Private Messages doesn't work in Internet Explorer. Weird. You can still get to your inbox from under "Forum Statistics" at the bottom, but yeah... that should be fixed.

Loving the layout here, and very glad it uses mostly CSS and most of the Javascript is for functionality. Anyway, I remembered one banner submitted in the old forum and thought it would look awesome in this theme. So, I grabbed Stylish, and with a touch of Firebug, I made an userstyle! @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml); @-moz-document domain("pogotribe.proboards.com"), url("http://southpoleofthemoon.com/chat.php") { body > br, body > table:first-of-type { display: none; } center .corners:nth-child(2) { margin-top: 1em !important; } .quote { font-family: Verdana,Arial, sans-serif !important; font-size: 13px !important; } .quote > tbody > tr > td { padding: 1em !important; } .code { font-family: "Andale Mono", "Lucida Console", "Courier New", monospace !important; font-size: 12px !important; } img { vertical-align: middle; }
.middle:first-child { margin-top: 200px !important; } .main .logo { background: url("http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/2136/dbubannerd.png") no-repeat center top !important; height: 140px !important; width: 900px !important; position: absolute; top: 0px !important; margin: 0 25px !important; } #sddm li { margin-top: 0 !important; } }
/* WIKI */ @-moz-document domain("southpoleofthemoon.com") { body.mediawiki { background: #000000 url("http://karsonenns.com/southpole/twitter-themoon.png") no-repeat !important; font-family:Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif !important; margin: 0px !important; } body.mediawiki > #globalWrapper { background: #fff !important; -moz-box-shadow: 0 0 1em white, inset 2px 0 1px -1px black, inset -2px -2px 1px -1px black; color: #333 !important; margin: 0 auto !important; padding: 2px 2px 1px 1px !important; position: relative; width: 939px !important; } body.mediawiki #content { margin-top: 2.7em !important; } body.mediawiki #footer { margin-bottom: 0 !important; }
body.mediawiki #p-logo a { background-image: url("http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/1226/spotmwikilogo.png") !important; } } Place this code in a new style in Stylish, or, use it in the userContent.css file from Firefox in {Profile Folder}\chrome\userContent.cssHere is the final look: I also have the following code, for Greasemonkey, which changes the titles so they are more pleasant and applies the favicon in all pages (ups, it seems that is working with the theme after all). // ==UserScript== // @name Tweak SouthPoleOfTheMoon // @namespace http://radicallyblue.blogspot.com/p/projects.html#script001 // @include http://southpoleofthemoon.com/* // @include http://www.southpoleofthemoon.com/* // @include http://pogotribe.proboards.com/* // @include http://www.pogotribe.proboards.com/* // ==/UserScript==
// Modify the title var origpattern = new RegExp("(southpoleofthemoon.com/)", "i"); var newpattern = new RegExp("(pogotribe.proboards.com/)", "i"); var wikipattern = new RegExp("(southpoleofthemoon.com/wiki/)", "i");
var istopdomain = new RegExp( window.location.hostname + '/(|index.cgi)$', "i");
if ( newpattern.test(document.location.toString()) == true ) { var title = document.getElementsByTagName("title")[0]; var str = title.text; var newstring = str.split("PogoTribe - ", "2"); //if (newstring[1] == "Home") { if ( istopdomain.test(document.location.toString()) == true ) { var newtitle = document.createTextNode( 'South Pole of The Moon • Welcome to our universe' ); } else { var newtitle = document.createTextNode( newstring[1] + ' • South Pole of The Moon' ); } title.removeChild(title.firstChild); title.appendChild(newtitle); }
if ( wikipattern.test(document.location.toString()) == true ) { var title = document.getElementsByTagName("title")[0]; var str = title.text; var newstring = str.split(" - ", "2");
var newtitle = document.createTextNode( newstring[0] + ' • SPoTM Wiki' );
title.removeChild(title.firstChild); title.appendChild(newtitle); }
// Add a favicon // This seems unecessary now /*var head = document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0];
var link = document.createElement('link');
link.setAttribute('type', 'image/png'); link.setAttribute('rel', 'shortcut icon'); //link.setAttribute('href', 'http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/7189/dbufavicon.png'); link.setAttribute('href', 'http://i47.tinypic.com/6ofxpj.png');
head.appendChild(link);*/ For some reason proboards is adding [ url ] and [ /url ] to the namespace and includes, so you need to remove them for the script to work. This style should be used with Greasemonkey or with any other way of applying userscripts to a page. If this works, the title of a tab in the home page should be " South Pole of The Moon • Welcome to our universe", and " Page Name • South Pole of The Moon" in any other place. I might host them in userstyles.org and userscript.org, if anyone thinks it is a good idea. If anyone remembers who did the banner, please say so, so I can credit the person. I hope you like it.

I forgot to say the style adds a new logo to the wiki too. And I also just updated the code above so as to include the background from the forums there too. Here is how the wiki looks:

Love that banner. You should submit it when the competition starts.
I'm still not really sure I like the background we have, though.

I did not do the banner, I just had the link saved in there from a thread in the old forums. I just applied it to the theme. I just did a quick search and it was actually made by old SPoTM username philosoraptor, and it is in here (btw, sorry for hotlinking philosoraptor).

If he is no longer around to submit the banner himself, I see no problem with you submitting it for him (as long as you say he made it during the first banner competition and yadda yadda). The people aren't competing, the banners are.

Is the banner competition a voting thing? Or just the admins picking again >.<

I've heard it's the users, but I could be wrong.

Makes more sense to make it a user vote. Since they use the forum.

Well originally, you were gonna have the admin applications posted with no names and have them voted on. And there was no vote on the new layout. So, I was under the impression that the admins choose things round these parts.

So, I was under the impression that the admins choose things round these parts. No? That was an idea I personally suggested, and posted on the wiki for discussion. That wasn't "how it was going to be" any more than the idea from some random that we should hold elections for admins. Besides, we made it pretty clear that new admins would be the only thing chosen only by admins. There was no vote on the new layout because there was no layout competition. Karson just randomly PMed me and was like "yo I made this" and I was like "yo that's awesome." It was the only layout. And honestly, just about anything was better than the old one. I got this impression a little with your first post, but even more with your second... posting just to have a jab at the admins isn't cool.
