Most guys accept girls as game players As long as they are 'hardcore' or 'causal' gamers, but if they only play games, such as the Sims or cooking mama, they are more likely to see some disrespect from guys due to the fact that most guys think that the is no point/challenge to these games.(As for there hotness (just like guys) some are 1's others 10's )

To be perfectly honest, when I see a female gamer--in a non MMO game circumstance--I usually tend to assume that they're bad and I haven't been wrong yet 9_6, but usually when it's really obvious that they're a female gamer, i.e. their gamertag is a giveaway or they draw attention to it, then it's even more likely true to the stereotype. Uhm, I have a few girl gamers on my list, and honestly there is no prejudice. If I get owned by the girls, it would be the same as if I get owned by a guy. Sure, we say a lot of sexist SHIRT to her, but we aren't serious when we tell her to "Go make us a sammich"

Out of the few girls I know IRL who plays videogames there is only one who is really good at it, the rest a kinda low-average, whereas almost every girl i met online in games was really good (better than me)
I don't know where that leaves me with... maybe i just have very bad girl gamer friends?

You havent played halo 3 with me yet. But i agree with the last part this. All the other girl gamers I've met like to brag about being a girl gamer without having an actual skill.

www.facebook.com/#!/pages/No-playing-Wii-doesnt-make-you-a-gamer/111391238890972?ref=ts Honestly, when I'm playing Halo and a girl is comes on, I tend to give them more respect, especially if they're good.

I sometimes play with strangers without revealing i'm a girl, it's interesting to see the difference.
It's not always different, but sometimes it's night and day regarding whether they talk to me, are condescending, etc.

Has anyone ever had an exsperiance in Online games of being treated differently than you normally would based on the character you're playing. This is kinda on topic just from a different perspective because I am an American male player but I do have a few female characters. Most players will assume that I'm really a guy for all the reasons we've allready stated but there are a few times where I've had guys flirting me because I'm playing an attractive female character. Now this isn't all about female characters. I've sense deleted him but on City of Heroes I use to have a French character named Icy Hot Blade. That was the name everybody saw. I can't remember his full real name that I gave him but I know his first name was Ivan. I deleted him like 6 years ago so I have no way of looking it up now. Anyway, I designed this guy as a Frenchman and a fencer. (or at least that's what I wrote in his bio, the game doesn't actully have any fencing abilitys.) Now I don't actully speak a word of French nor am I actully French I just thought the character should be French. Well, without fail, every single I played this character, no other character would ever have this problem just this one guy, every single team he was invited to only spoke French. I apperently did such a good job designing this character that French people thought I was actully French. For the longest time I didn't even know what language they were speaking. I finally found someone who spoke both French and English after playing this guy off and on for about 3 months and he told me what they were saying, what language it was, and that they had thought I was a French man myself. At the time the game was only avalible in the U.S. and Canada so these guys weren't actully from France like my character was designed to be. They were from the French speaking part of Canada. The one guy I found who speaks both French and English, I don't know if he had to learn both for work or he lived right on the border between the English speaking and French Speaking Canadians or what but he was very nice and helpful.

Oh goodness no. Girls are treated like inferiors. People give them special treatment, and when we screw up the general opinion is 'oh it's ok, because she's a girl'. Many have expressed a sort of dread about having a girl game with them because they have some sort of lesser ability to play or something. I certainly do not think they are treated equally. [From personal experience]
