No one is ever really evil, for they are always good to themselves.

Your discussion just proved what I said. You cant relly decide if its good or evil, not even which is the bigger evil. This if something is proof that Good and Evil are subjective things...

The people might not think they're evil, evil people usually think there is no such thing as evil.
But for instance you can believe animals don't feel pain, that doesn't mean animal pain isn't an actual thing or that it is "subjective". It exists whether people admit it does or not. You can believe gravity doesn't exist and you are not affected by it, that doesn't make gravity subjective.
What we believe about something doesn't actually change its reality.
Morality is subjective but evil is a real thing.

So, some of you might remember a quote of Voldemort's in the first Harry Potter movie. I'm not sure of the exact wording, but it was something like: "There is no good or evil. There is only power, and those who choose to seek it." Except a lot more creepy-like. So my question is - Do you agree with his statement? To what extent? Why? I honestly am not sure as to whether I agree with it or not. Hence why I created this thread. But here is why I see that it is possible the statement could be true. The people who many regard as "evil" see themselves as being the protagonists. For lack of a better way of phrasing, they would see us as "evil" and themselves as "good." Therefore, defining good and evil can be difficult right off the bat. Plus, those people who do seek power for themselves, and seek to be in control of everything, usually end up being the ones we see as "evil." They are trying to get all the power for themselves. That is usually what is at the heart of every villain's plan. “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” -Epicurus
