I swear a lot. I don't think of it as anything. "Fuckin" and "SHIRT" are just filler words in my train of thought. XD

That's obnoxious. I use swears when I'm upset. You won't like me when I'm angry...

I don't just like "Fucking this, fucking that, that SHIRT is so fucking fuck fuck SHIRT."
I just... Like in this sentence, that ellipses would've been filled with a small, under my breath "fuckin,". XD

Well I'm in Alabama and every redneck and their mother fills in gaps with "fuckin" and "SHIRT" and "stupid ass" and whatnot. So to me, if you sprinkle all of your sentences with curses, it sounds pretty moronic.
Cursing as a principle is not something I'm really opposed to. I just hate people who curse because they think it makes them look cooler or more mature (aka all of those 12 year olds and rednecks).

I agree with many people here, that words are words and I don't think we should label them as anything else.

In New England, swearing is kinda like an interjection, or whatever. People use it casually, but it's not as annoying as when a twelve year old uses them xD
Example:
*yawning* "aahhhhhh SHIRT, SHIRT SHIRT"

Curse words are dysphemisms and like other dysphemisms are to be used in a certain time and a certain place. They have a negative connotation to purposely express negative thoughts and feelings, just like the word captive is more emotion-evoking and negative than prisoner. I would be fine with my children using curse words, as long as they don't misuse them causing them to mean nothing, in the way the word "like" now is difficult to be used to mean "similar to" because it is often a filler in conversation and is perceived as such.
The only curse words I, myself, try not to use are nigger and faggot as both were purposely created to bring a certain group of people down as opposed to express distaste to a situation.

This. Also, I hate when people say that swearing means you have a limited vocabulary. Lolwut? No, it means you're pissed off (for me, anyway). As much of a logophile as I am, and despite how much I LOVE polysyllabic words, I'm not going to say "This is superfluously contemptible," instead of just saying that I'm fucking mad. Even (most) swears that are insults, I don't think are offensive. They're just words. Sure, they're meant to hurt you, but who cares what other people call you? It shouldn't affect you. And being called an asshole is no worse than any other non-swear insult.

Yeah, swearing has really lost its fucking meaning, imo. I have no idea what you're talking about. In my country, people have abused swear words for centuries.

I didn't swear at all (out-loud anyways) until a few months ago. My more recent profanities have been brought about by the existence of my evil stepfather... Anyways, I don't have a problem with other people swearing, and I never had. I don't think you should limit your vocabulary to please other people, but then again swear words still hold a big stigma in society, so I suggest using them sparingly and only in the appropriate circles.

I never in my life considered "SHIRT" to be a swear word. I REALLY don't understand people who are offended by it.
I also take the stance that words aren't bad, only how you use them.
And "SHIRT" (=excrement) is never a bad thing, right?
*edit* Had to fix that last one which had been censored. After being on this forum, I actually do find "SHIRT" offensive (mostly because I find censorship offensive).

myself, try not to use are nigger and faggot as both were purposely created to bring a certain group of people down as opposed to express distaste to a situation. Ah, whatchu talkin' 'bout nigaa? As a skeptic of racism, I feel that people should use words like nigger and faggot more often, but derive them away from their intended meaning. One the meaning of the word changes it can't be derogatory anymore and will lessen worldsuck. And since most of us are pretty much on the same page here, what are the prospects for using casual curse words on the Pogotribe? it is an important subject because it would change how we talk to each other and it would differentiate us from a strange, friendly community to a casual, laid back, tight knit, friendly community. At least in my eyes. I mean think about it, most people don't use curse words in front of someone they might offend or with people they aren't comfortable being their selves around. When I'm with Team Awesome we use curses as a basis reference to inside jokes and as a way to exaggerate sentences. Not vulgar jokes(comma) just funny prospects we come up with... Like Darth Jackson. "The Force is Strong in this Mutha Fucka" Haha on a semi-related note: Curse words make me laugh because I can't take them seriously at all. And that's how it should be. There shouldn't be a single word that people take so offensive that you can't use it, after all it is your voice box, you should be able to make whatever sound you want without restrictions. One of then main reasons I use nigger a lot is because there aren't any black people in my school, maybe one or two. The other day my friend and colleague in the field of ninja-ing SHIRT up, was thirsty so I pulled an effing huge bottle of soda out of my backpack and gave it to him. Later on he was happy so he went up to me and said "My nigga!" we high fived and he ran off. And even though I do use curse words I also like the childish simplicity of the word "Effing." Teachers don't consider it to be a bad word even though it's just another word for fuck.... and I honestly don't see how fuck became a "bad" word because I told my teacher to go intercourse himself the other day and it didn't exactly produce the same results. Sure some words have different impact such as Survivor over Hobo but when you use them in the same context that produce the same meaning you shouldn't get mad because no words on this earth are offensive. Besides if someone calls you a nigger and you get offended because you're black you can't exactly get mad or else you're effing retarded. You're black, you can't exactly argue against that. However when someone uses a word to intentionally hurt someone well you're both at fault. You for being offended and him for being stupid. Lemme read of a famous quote I said once: "These words cannot be weapons, for they have no true meaning other than what we perceive them to be."
