I dunno dead baby jokes is one of those gray areas, they can be good but they can be horrible, it usually depends on the joke... its pretty much like any joke really because the topic of joking is O.K but it can be stretched a bit too far like anything else.
So i'd go for ... baby jokes in moderation

I am morbid and so are my friends. I can honestly say that I laugh out loud (aka lol) when I hear a dead baby joke. Though I do not like the ones about rape (cause I think rape is fucking sick in any situation) But we always ask new people if they have had experience with dead children or someone close to them who have lost a child before we go on about them. Likewise in school or at other events I ask if it is ok if I tell one. I think that it`s all about experience and personality so if you like them ask if it is ok if you tell them. Cause you can hurt someone with them. How do you stop a baby going around in circles on the floor? You nail the other hand to the floor.!

The only questionable dead baby joke is saying, "It's like punching two babies with one fist!" instead of "Hitting two birds with one stone"
I don't mind dead baby jokes. They're jokes. They should be treated as such. If they don't offend anyone, and they're not actually serious, then they're fine. Picnic's example, however, that was just wrong.

so are telling black jokes less offensive than telling dead baby jokes? What about sexist jokes? Or gay jokes? they are all really wrong, but a dead baby joke can hit you even harder, since some people really have experienced the sadness of a miscarriage.

But nobody experiences the "sadness" of being black or gay or a certain gender? =P I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying all of these jokes are below the belt for somebody.

I have a very dark, twisted sense of humour. I am not ashamed to admit this. I am also a considerate human being, and save my tasteless jokes for when I am in the presence of like-minded individuals. I believe this is the difference between having a nasty sense of humour and just being a douchebag.
As for racist/sexist jokes, etc. . . . it really depends on who's telling them. If I hear a potentially offensive joke being told by someone who is widely known to be respectful of every human being he/she meets, than I often find the joke hilarious, the humour actually amplified by how universally inappropriate it is. But if the individual actually BELIEVES what he/she is saying, and is prejudiced in that manner . . . see comment regarding difference above.

I know the point is to disturb, piss off, or offend people. But I still think that it crosses a line. Its like making holocaust jokes. Its just fucked up.

Jokes are jokes. Anything in moderation, not directed to hurt a specific person is okay. It also helps if you're with a group of friends who know you're kidding when you make off color jokes and not in a crowded place where, chances are, someone will get offended. I go by the joke philosophy of making fun of everyone equally. To quote South Park: "Either it's all okay or nothing is."
