Personally I think a rock would win because a rock can tear up the paper and all a paper can do is just lay on in or fly awar. A rock is the scissor that holds a double life like an amphibian ![got the amphbiam part from JMeljia1] So over all the paper is no match for the rock. What do you think?

It depends on the relative size/mass of the rock and the strength of the paper. Also sharp edges on the rock would be in its favour. And if the rock is extra smart it will apply a little water and the paper is history.
Wait, how can a piece of paper harm a rock again?

The game isn't about who would win in a fight, it's about principle. Paper will always win.

Rock < Paper Rock > Scissors Paper < Scissors
^
I always thought it was like that because it's a hand game and if you make paper and rock you can wrap the rock up in your paper hand xD

i refuse to believe that a flimsy piece of paper can stop a rock. i however will often resort to volcano (two hands together to form a triangle shape), or meteor (essentially punching the opposing player with your falling fist)... because of these unique tactics, i often win.

I never understood Rock Paper Scissors either.
Scissors cuts paper, yup sure does.
Rock smashes scissors, yeah that works.
Paper... covers?... rock??? How does this = winning? The other two leaves the paper or scissors damaged in some way but this one, the paper would be damaged not the rock, it's just stupid. Rock wins every time!
This could also be a very aggressive game because if someone doesn't agree that paper beats rock, their hand is already a fist, just saying.

Nobody reads my posts? Lol
It's not necessarily about which is stronger. It's about the principle.

You beat me to it. The paper could also destroy the rock indirectly by being kindle for a fire to melt the rock (which you'd need a lot of), it could contain instructions on how to destroy the rock, or it could kill the rock in the same way "video killed the radio star" by having people paint on paper instead of walls.

I agree with Demetri Martin. In fact, before he said it I was thinking that we should have dynamite with a wick in place of paper. Also, this: www.umop.com/rps.htm
