I probably did get the name's confused. I'm actually kinda impressed I remembered as much as I did. I must say, that I was not sad one bit when he got shot. I wasn't involved with the characters at all. *Spoiler alert below**Spoiler alert below**Spoiler alert below*I guess I have a personal connection to some of the characters. My little brother has Autism. Admittedly, I was definitely not the best older brother. I teased him and I would even hit him (I didn't beat him. It was more like a sibling kind of hit). I used to honestly hate him. When I read the book, and put myself in the context in which the story takes place (A society that considers deviation from the norm to be a bad thing), It reminds me of myself when I was younger. I would hate my brother because he was different, just as people, if they found out about Lennie, would hate him as well. When Lennie killed Curley's wife, through an unfortunate and completely accidental incident, He and George had only a few options. If they ran they would eventually be found. If he brought Lennie to safety of some authority Lennie would have been poked, prodded, and experimented on because of his disability. In the end George saved Lennie by killing him, and at that moment I seriously started crying.

1: Divergence by Tony Ballentyne
2: The entire Dresden files series by Jim Butcher
3: The word and the void trilogy by Terry brooks
4: Speaker for the dead by Orson Scott Card
5: The last wish by Andrzej Sapkowski
Yeah I tend to think of trilogy's and series as one big book :-P
Also I am fully prepared for the resulting flames, But I CANNOT STAND "The catcher in the rye".

I'm like that with quite a few books. Every teacher I have ever had has said "just wait 20 years and read this again; you'll love it!" -- or some variation of this -- at some point. I'm looking at you, Great Gatsby. Maybe that's true...but I'm not really sure if I want to find out. =/

Wow first let me say it's interesting that so many pogotribers like classic literature, and apparently fantasy and sci fi? Lol, what a weird combination...
I happen to love:
1.The Works of Chuck Palahniuk - He's my favorite author and I have felt deeply connected to all of his stories and characters. I could talk about him and the way he writes and what I believe he's trying to say all day. I highly recommend: Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey (which I'm rereading now) Haunted Choke (which was made into a movie, you may have seen it but it isn't as good as the book) Survivor Invisible Monsters AND OF COURSE Fight Club (Yes, the book the movie was based on) 2. Welcome to the Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut - a collection of short stories that are out of this world! 3. Looking for Alaska by John Green - I reread this whenever I'm sad 4. Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, and Klosterman 4 by Chuck Klosterman - two books full of funny insightful essays on American Pop Culture. I wanted to be a sociology major so badly after reading these! 5. The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald - I read it for the first time in middle school and fell in love. I have a copy that was my grandmother's from the 1950's.
The list goes on but those are my definite favorites

Some of my favorite books (Not in order, of course. I could never choose!) The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath (Actually, this one might be my favorite.) Looking For Alaska - John Green The Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger The Giver - Lois Lowry Hamlet - Shakespeare The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie - David Lubar (I don't know why I like this one so much, but I do. It's pretty good) These are a few books that I love and could absolutely read over and over again. I love books

I almost forgot about thisbook. I read it in middle school, and thought (at the time) that it sucked. Truthfully, I didn't read into much of it. I picked it back up later and realized how amazing it is. Gotta love a dystopic society
