Call it anti-romantic, but wouldn't the song with the deepest meaning be the one with lyrics that have absolutely nothing to do with what the song is about? If it's meaning is deep--that is, not on the surface--then it would have to be loaded with extremely veiled metaphors or cultural references that few people get.
That said, this song wins:
Propaganda from the Chinese government reported the Tiananmen Square Incident as roughly "Shiny Happy People Holding Hands." The song is reportedly a completely sarcastic reference to it.

If you're looking for the song with the most indirect meaning by use of cultural references; "American Pie" is an obvious contender. And you're right about your proposal being un-romantic. Wordsworth is disappoint. Blake can see where you're coming from, though. And I love Shiny Happy People. Kate Pierson from the B52's in there too. Rats. I really wanted to post "I've got to sing a torch song", mostly preferably the 1930's cartoon version of it, but it's been removed from youtube. Oh well. Just one lyric from this transforms the whole thing into the most romantic thing I've ever heard. "Well the earth died screaming while I lay dreaming". The more you think about it, the better that deceptively simple line gets.

Specifically this performance of these two songs. Immediately after the death of designer and friend Alexander McQueen. "We miss you so bad Lee"
She completely changed the meanings of these two songs and it is all kinds of heart breaking.
