religeons are a healthy part of a human being I wouldn't say healthy. I would say more on the lines of religion is there as an escape to the harsh reality of life for people who have no other escape. I guess it's healthy in the sense that, without something to believe in people would surely kill themselves rather than deal with life on their own. In another sense it's no more healthy than the crazy Scottish fisherman trying to prove the Lock Ness Monster really exists or people who think they're super heroes. God is nothing more than a scape goat people thank when good things happen to them while at the same time blaming for the bad stuff rather than taking credit or giving credit to people who are really responsible. An example of this, there's a commercial that annoys the hell out of me every time it plays which states "Thank God for inventing the joy stick and giving us thumbs." God did not invent the joy stick. If you really want to believe that God gave us thumbs, go right ahead, I don't have a better explanation but saying God invented the joy stick is just plain ignorant. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JoystickOK this started as a reply to you and then turned into a rant about a TV commercial.

oops, wrong choice of words,
i meant to say that spiritual beliefs are a healthy part of a human being
you're right, i went to a church event once with my school, i don't really follow a relieon, so i thought it might be interesting to see what goes on. we basically sat there for hours praying to a god, asking him to help people in need.
in my opinion, thats what we should of done for the two hours, instead of asking for someone else to do it for us.

I think it would be a magnificent world full of peace. what do you think? Why? The reason I think this is because there would be a lot less war and a lot more progress. What about Buddhism?

eh... some would argue that Buddhism is a spiritual philosophy and not a religion. If Buddhism is a spiritual philosophy then Buddha must have been a real life philosopher. However sense that's not really the case and Buddha is their God then it's a religion.

Buddhas are not gods (not even the original one), although, and I will quote from wiki:

eh... some would argue that Buddhism is a spiritual philosophy and not a religion. Okay but for argument's sake there is a Buddhist-like religion... wouldn't that be a peaceful religion.

Religion is just a form of ignorance. As they say though, ignorance is bliss sometimes.

For a world without religion to exist, we as humans would have to be very different creatures as we are naturally hard wired for faith. It's practically instinct.
BUUUUUT it sure would eliminate a lot of war and prejudice.

South Park can be total genius sometimes.

We wouldn't even know about the idea.

The Buddhist belief system does not necessitate a God, but revolves around the idea of Karma, good works and reincarnation as taught by the Buddha.
