What are your opinions on taking UNFERTILIZED EGGS from a woman's uterus to be used in Stem Cell Research. Should it be Legalized or Outlawed? What about genetically cloning a human? Should that be legalized for research? Why or Why not?

Using stem cells: Yes, as long as the donor agrees. Cloning: I have yet to form an opinion on the matter, but I think it should be allowed, but restricted in a case-by-case basis.

Why the all-caps on unfertilized eggs? Is there something special about them?
Anyway, there's absolutely no reason donated stem cells shouldn't be used as Freddy points out. The potential advances in medicine and the sheer number of lives that could be saved through the eventual results of such research is staggering.

Actually there is an importance to it. People think that taking unfertilized eggs is wrong because you are killing a living thing. That's wrong. The egg won't even become living if it isn't fertilized by a male sperm, and there is no brain activity even then until the third month, so it's still not technically living until three months after fertilization AT LEAST!

I think that stem cell research can be a life saver if continued in this fashion.

I feel we should continue with the research. More research! More research then the scientific community has room for!
And I'm not just saying that because this research is a major component to my major

Preventing Stem Cell research is the only thing preventing us from finding more cures to things like cancer and AIDS. The cure is right in front of us. Why not use it?

I'm very much a supporter of stem cell research for reasons already said in above posts.

Stem cells can be collected from not only the discarded umbilical cords of newborns, but NOW can also found in menstrual blood. BAM! No more moral dilemma. Sideways happy face emoticon.

Yes, and they were there before, but they were sneaky like ninjas and we couldn't find them. (Either that or restrictions on stem cell research were holding us up.)

I love how we'll all agree on stem cell research, but Ryan and I have been arguing with Gameboob over whether or not you can cure cancer for months.

I hate to be the one who brings people down to Earth (Actually, I love to do that.((LOL, bring down to Earth. We're on the Moon, geddit?)) ) but you can't "cure" cancer. You can KILL it, or REMOVE it, but ya can't CURE it. Cures are usually a kind of medicine, by definition, and as far as I know, you can't inject someone with a little clear fluid and make them all better. XP

XP Maybe you can't cure cancer but you can cure somebody of cancer. Cure is defined as an end of a medical condition or to relieve somebody of symptoms of a disease or condition.
