OK, let me get into this debate. I don't think that all this hate against Bieber, twilight, fred etc is unreasonable. I think most of us agree is that what they are marketing is SHIRT, and many people hate it because it does so good. Even with better artists and better books out there what becomes reaches to the top is just stupid. Let me take Twilight for example, I never read a book but I watched all the movies (yes, not the same, I know, fuck off). This movie is so bad it's just plain stupid, acting is bad, story line is just stupid, and it's full of Bollywood effects, but it still does really good!

You just said "I didn't like the Twilight movies, and I think they suck". That's not an argument. That's like saying "I hate watermellon's, and I justify this hate because I think they suck!"

^? Btw, I think Krzych has a point. For some people it can be frustrating to see whatever pop-star or movie, that doesn't appeal to them at all, rise to success when other greater artists are not acknowledged in the same way. But there are still people who just jump in the bandwagon of hate without actually feeling the same frustration and without actually knowing why they don't like or even hate what they say they hate, and this thread, I think, is aimed to those people.

I think his point needs an explanation rather than just "they suck, so it's reasonable to hate them" (Actually, after reading your original post, you do make some decent points) I think the case with Bieber is that, like Hannah Montana (originally), and others, an image is being sold, rather than an artist. People love what Justin Bieber is (an image, an icon, a look, etc.), not what Justin Bieber does (play mediocre pop music). In the case of Twilight, I remember when Twilight wasn't even popular, and no one knew anything about it. It only became popular once it was sold as an image, an icon, a franchise. And once again, people love the image of Twilight. I think this image is what people hate. But I think it is reasonable to hate it. I could be wrong...

Most things are un-reasonably hated because of peer pressure...
Say a regular guy goes to school one day with a Twilight shirt on, many of the male students are going to make homophobic slurs toward this Twilight shirt.

Don't even mention homosexuality here, because the unreasonable hate for that gives me aneurysms, strokes, heart attacks, and diarrhea due to stress and anger.

I think the point is, the unreasonable part is that the hate is for the person (or thing) based on the image, not based on the person. Not always the case, though.

Look at it this way, every person has a mind of their own, also a human being is a logical creature. So when put into a situation one makes a decision to go along or not. One will go along with the group only if benefits of doing so are greater then what they will achieve from the alternative. No one is really forcing anyone into doing anything, we make our own decisions with our own able minds. Peer pressure is just a scape goat that we use to blame our bad decisions on to someone.

Theater Arts in General. In my high school, basically 95% of the male population think that people in music, acting, dance are gay/losers/unathletic/stupid/did i mention gay? 4% are those of us in the group, and the last 1% is the people who like us. Now dont get me wrong. I have more than half my friends that dont really care, but whenever i mention it they always hate on it. I just dont get the point of hating something for no reason. My brother always hated those kids and made fun of them, but now that I am in it, he acts(hes in college now) like he wished he could go back and do theater. I think part of it is a lack of understanding and then alot of stubbornness.

I hate Justin Bieber for a few reasons: He has bad music, he sings like a girl, he doesn't write his music, he doesn't compose his music, and he sounds auto-tuned... He just seems like a fake who's getting tweens all hyped up.
Twilight. Is. That. Bad. On top of that that Stephanie Meyer ruined the vampire/werewolf fandom completely by making both of them lamer, in my opinion, she also just writes really bad. Bella is not a well built character and you just wanna tell Edward to kill her already.
I don't hate for no reason. I hate based on experiences.

If you hate him for that, you need to reconsider your opinions.

And I hate the hate for gays in general, men especially in society today associate homosexuality with being a bad thing, and this just disturbs me...I don't know what we can do about it though.

I'm sorry, you didn't understand me. I don't hate Justin Bieber as a person - I don't know him. I have no idea what he's like in real life. I hate his music and his image, the way he's faking himself into the business (based on what I know to be true)... I really wouldn't know. He could be the nicest most smartest person I'll ever meet, but his image is what bugs me. I don't care if he is gay, I don't care if he's a transgender, I really don't, he could be an alien for all I care. But then again, I'm a little over his intended audience....

I personally don't care about Biebz music, I don't like it, but it's not meant for my demographic, so.. As a person, I'm not so sure.. He said that you shouldn't be able to get an abortion even if you're raped..

He said that you shouldn't be able to get an abortion even if you're raped.. So you would dislike a person because they have a different opinion? With this logic I hate all of you on this forum. Also, I don't think he actually said that. He said that he is anti-abortion. In cases of rape he said something along the lines "I don't know, I will never be in such a position"

No, he said that everything happens for a reason, so even in the case of rape, it shouldn't be an option..
When did I say I hated him? I just don't know if I would like him as a person.. I don't hate really anyone who's alive.. I can't think of anyone.. Maybe Sarah Palin because have takes herself really seriously which annoys me.. Maybe Glenn Beck because he's crazy as hell, and seems like he would be alienating to anyone he disagrees with.
