I think Dan 3.0 is vital to his success and career as a Youtuber, because as I remember he never had sponsors on his vlog videos. In my opinion the best solution is to finish D3P0 with a balance of videos between tasks and vlog discussion. After D3P0 comes to an official end, then I think Dan should go back to the style of DanBrown Universe videos. In these he would do things to get the community invloved such as interesting viewer, dan's wall, viewer questions, vlogs, etc. Also he would have "adventure time" which could now be used to continue doing tasks off the decision engine in a relaxed way. Who agrees with me?

get yourself back in school. </old guy talk> I completely agree with everything you said in that post and especially this! lol Maybe that should be a task for D3P0 and maybe he can become as smart as C-3PO! (I don't know why never made this connection before with D3P0 and C-3PO!)

I only ever caught one of his live shows, it was when he was making brownies. It was okay, I guess. The skype calls would have been fun to see.

I just think that balancing D3P0 and the regular DBU vlogs is too much. The point of D3P0 is to make videos everyday and do tasks everyday, giving us control of his life. It hasn't lived up to this and it never will if he throws in other types of videos. Even if he hired someone, he'd have to worry about them doing the job right. They are his videos after all...and didn't he hire some guy once and it didn't work out? I'm with the idea of him getting back in school..

Well when it comes down to it it all is to do with what he will make videos of and if he doesn't like D3PO then he should know what he will do, what are his options other than new media, what benefits will come from what, ect.

To be honest I think he's too far into D3P0 to cancel it... hes got the pogo stick record and a bunch of uncompleted accepted tasks so he needs to get busy with tasks and d3p0, and then just do vlogs on the side because they dont take that long all he has to do is turn on the camera and talk.

I think he can quit whenever he wants, but he must complete all the tasks in the accepted section before doing so.
Accepting a task is like a promise, and you can't just go around breaking them.

Ultimately Dan needs to do what is going to make him happy. If he is going to be miserable counting down the days until the one year mark then it can end today. If he can modify the show for the remaining time in a way that suits him better I am all for doing it, tasks be damned. I think if he sticks it out he will appreciate having done so much later in life. This project's problem is that those submitting and voting on tasks tend not see the forest from the trees. I started watching because of a "big idea" of doing something amazing and meaningful but most tasks have been trite and meaningless.

It's apparent Dan is tired of the project for the same reason we're tired of the project (it's pointless and the community involvement part never materialized) so I threw together a little poster to celebrate. I don't mean celebrate the potential demise of Dan 3.0, but the fact that Dan finally gets how we've felt for basically the entire duration of the project. I don't agree, but that poster is AWESOME!

The following is a letter I wrote and sent to Dan in a Youtube inbox message: (Hope he reads this I am anxious for a response)
Dear Dan Brown, I have been a viewer of yours for 3 and a half years (almost your entire career) and I have always stood by you on your decisions as to what style of video you created. From Rubix Cube tutorials, to Dan Brown Universe episodes, to live web shows on week nights (I stayed up extra late on school nights just to watch these), to vlog discussion videos, to Dan 3.0. Throughout the course of Dan 3.0 lots and lots of people have complained in the comments that they don't like it because many videos are you talking about changes and problems of D3P0 rather than doing tasks and actually instigating change. The reason Dan 3.0 doesn't look so good is because the majority of the time when you actually do tasks they are small trivial things like hugs, cookies, etc. rather than working towards bigger tasks are really cool and will be the defining moments of the project itself. I have always defended you and your choices in the comments against other people, but today when you posted a video with your decision to end Dan 3.0 I was extraordinarily disappointed and could not agree with you this time. Why was I disappointed?
First off, I have submitted a decent amount of tasks to the decision engine and THREE of them were accepted. My revision 3 account name is "TehJoker" and I can message you to prove it if you don't believe me. These 3 tasks of mine are sitting amongst 6 pages of other accepted tasks that UNCOMPLETED. Are you really going to quit the project with 6 pages of uncompleted tasks? What about the pogo stick world record? Although you may think D3P0 brought you farther apart from your audience, it did give you a chance to actually meet some of your viewers in real life (pogo stick club, the roadtrip, playlist live, etc.)
The second reason why I am angry about you giving up on D3P0 is because there is a very easy solution. What you need to do is make videos with a style similar to "Dan Brown Universe". In an episode, you can have viewer questions (via email or twitter), put stuff on your wall (like wall wednesdays), make a vlog-discussion segment each episode (this is what you've been wanting to do), and lastly do an "adventure time" in which you continue to do tasks from the decision engine. You should still call the show Dan 3.0 because you are still doing tasks and keep the name at least until D3P0 is officially supposed to end. This is the perfect balance because you can have a vlog topical discussion every episode, and continue doing tasks which will show that you have not given up on the project, just made an adjustment to the format of your videos.
Remember, I have been a loyal subscriber to you for quite some time (do you remember trombone corner?), and please seriously consider my suggestions and revisions to the format of you videos. Like I said, it's a compromise between tasks and vlogs which would essentially satisfy all your viewers. Thank you very much for your time, and I anxiously await your response to this letter. If you would like to talk to me in person (I have great ideas) message me and I will provide you with my contact info (cell phone number, skype name, email address, etc.)
Thank you Mr. Daniel Brown.

We're learning out Lyndon B. Johnson and SHIRT in U.S. History. We were talking about his Great Society program and it reminded me of the D3P0 situation. The Great Society was meant to completely eliminiate the poverty in America, but there are actually more people living in poverty now than there were in the 60's. The Great Society was a great thing and all, but it didn't really meet it's goal...and can almost be considered a failure.
Dan 3.0 was a pretty cool idea. No one on Youtube has really done anything like it, and it was out of good intention. But it did not reach it's goals and did not have the potential that Dan hoped.
The point is, Johnson was still a kick ass president. And so Dan shouldn't worry about Dan 3.0 failing, because he's still a kick ass Youtuber.
