Amazingly I'm taking part in the discussion that has to do with the two things I don't really like but everybody else seems to like these days, Lady Gaga and religion.
Now if I were to imagine the hypothetical situation that I believed in Jesus and God and all that stuff, I don't think I'd get very offended. Clear metaphors seem to get skipped because people just want to complain these days.
Also this seems way milder compared to the 80's, where every Heavy Metal band was satanic.
But yeah, listen to this song for the first time without pointing and screaming "SATANIST! SAAATANIST! SATANIST!"
It's really just story telling. Sometimes you sing views that are not yours, but in fact the person's whom's perspective the song is being sung out of. (weird sentence I know)
I feel like listening to Iron Maiden now.

ROFL Sara, this thread was created like 3 years ago. I know. The thread was revived by Rob yesterday. I was commenting on the fact that we're still discussing Judas even though she already has three new singles. Like really. She drops singles more often than I poop :/ Not really. But you get the idea.

1. Freedom of speech. 2. Religious people need to stop being offended from everything. 3. What if the guy was actually named Judas? Like the Hebrew name Yehuda (which is the original form of the name Judas)?

lol have you seen the video?
i really hate when people say that...you DO realize that freedom of speech goes both ways right?! you can say what you want and i can tell you that im offended and that i dont want you to ever say it again. WE CAN BOTH SAY WHAT WE WANT! ffs...freedom of speech means EVERYONE has the RIGHT to say what they want. if i wanna be offended who are you to tell me i cant be? if i want you to shut up who are you to tell me that i cant tell you that?

Exactly, which means people who are offended can say they are and say they don't want to hear it ever again, but they can't demand it, as it goes against the other person's freedom of expression. (btw, I haven't been paying attention to this thread because I honestly don't care about Lady Gaga (Radio Gaga, from Queen xD ) nor I find her musics interesting. More annoying than her music are some (but not all) of her maniac fans (believe me, I know some of her fans ). They speak of her like if she was a great genius with all the little things she (supposingly) made on purpose (apparently). OK, sure, but I still don't care about her music. (also, nested parentheses FTW!!! (I've been trying to avoid them, but I can't help anymore! (btw, do the opening brackets coincide with the closing ones?))))

This ^ No one's saying they can't be offended, but they can't demand it gone. Even though I said they need to stop being offended, I'm not demanding them to. I can't. They have feelings and I respect them, though I do not agree with them.

why cant i demand what i want to demand...demands are protected by free speech as well Not really. Thats like saying "BITCH MAKE ME A SAMMICH" and then everyone in the room just looks at you, forcing you to get up and get your own damn sammich. You can demand whatever you want...but people won't always do what you want. If you were to say "I demand that you stop being offended!" .. you'd probably get punched.

The point asher's trying to make - which I'm not sure if it's coming across to everyone - is that every party has the right to say and demand whatever they want. It is also the right of the opposing party to not care what they say as well as not comply with the demands.
