When did I say gay people are bad?
Let's look at this like Santa Clause. It's the parent's choice to have the child believe in Santa Clause or not. It's also the parent's choice to teach the child about homosexuality or not. You're not gonna tell the 5 year old that Santa isn't real. That's another reason I like this bill. It's the parent's choice to teach the child (I'm also against most sex ed in high schools but I'm getting off topic)

Well, ok they're not bad people. It [is][/i] however bad to sin and therefore bad to be gay.[/b] Now yes, we all sin. We should try to rid the sins from our lives. Being gay just brings another sin out[/quote] Thing about Santa is that there IS NO DEBATE ON SANTA. Santa IS real. He's inside of all of us when we give to others. There IS (for some reason) a debate of homosexuality, and you need to tell your children about it for them to function properly.

I agree with Zang in that this kind of thing should be taught by the parents (with the hopes that they know what they are talking about and that they are not homophobics or the likes). But if someone is homosexual and the family is not the ideal environment for them to talk about the subject (say a family of not so very tolerant people) then they should be able to try to understand (because I'm sure that at that age there are a lot of misconceptions spreaded about homosexuality) and discuss their problem with a teacher or someone who may know about the subject. Also, this is up to 8th grade, not just little tiny kids, at that age I think it important to know about this stuff and, if you have any concerns about sexual orientation, to be able to discuss it in school.
Maybe the parents can choose not to tell their kids about some stuff, but there is a point where the children should be able to make their own decisions about certain subjects and should be able to learn and be taught about certain subjects.

Lyserg, that's not his point.
Whether the parents ARE homophobes or not, they can't just pretend in doesn't exist.

If you look at this like santa zang then you treat as an existence argument. Do gay people exist. Or don't they. If left to the parents, then the parents who don't teach about homosexuality will leave their children in a state of uncertainty when the child encounters it for the first time.
Gay people exist. They always have existed. They always will exist. Someone needs to teach people about it. If you take this right away from the teachers then you must force it onto the parents.
The point of the matter is, it doesn't matter what people are being taught about homosexuality, but rather that they are taught about it. Children should know the basic facts about it. I don't care if they are taught moral standpoints on it like you were Zang. But all in all, everyone should learn about it. This bill hinders that learning process.

Yes, whether or not the teachers agree with it, all students ought to be exposed to a wide variety of knowledge. Otherwise they will also grow up to be ignorant, and their kids will be raised in the same fashion.
