I just noticed (or failed to notice, which ever) that we, the pogo tribe do not have a tribal symbol correct me please if i'm wrong. So i was wondering if we, as a tribe could come up, with a simple symbol. I basically got the idea when I was watching some of Dan's older video's and there he wanted a salute for his Brownie army. Ithought hey why don't we have something similar? Ok not a salute because in a tribe that would be kind of silly so i thought about it a bit more and then it hit me a like a two tonne truck on a forty mile freeway. A symbol! (now now one of those T-shirt symbols ( although that's not a bad idea except that Dan has a t-shirt design already. But if we should ever have a convention or a gathering of any sort we could have flags with this, yet to be designed, symbol) So i ask you should we have a symbol? and If yes what? Any ideas what so ever feel free to add it below or PM me.

If that's the symbol it needs to change in my opinion.
The symbol has to include the words "South Pole of the Moon" Or "Pogo tribe. " No secret knowledge! Secret knowledge is bad! If people see it and they don't know what it means that excludes them from the community. I want our community to include everyone. Same for a hand-signal.

IMO it also has to be simple to draw, so that anyone can draw it to show others

IMO it also has to be simple to draw, so that anyone can draw it to show others Yes, simple to draw... like a cross or a swastika. Go into google images and type "symbol" count how many of the things are negative and how many are positive. If it's positive I bet it's an icon. (The difference between an icon and a symbol is that the icon looks like what it represents, like a man that indicates "toilets" or a heart) Why should we have something that segregates our community and allows us to recognize each other? Anyone can join, anyone! We are just a small part of the world community, and we want to help and include and understand everyone that shows up.

That is something we could work with. that is impressive that you thought up something so fast IMO it also has to be simple to draw, so that anyone can draw it to show others Yes, simple to draw... like a cross or a swastika. Anyone can join, anyone! We are just a small part of the world community, and we want to help and include and understand everyone that shows up. Ok i just asked google and I was openly surprised at how many positive symbols (not icons) i got on the first four pages these include: Triskelion, Yin-yang, the peace symbol, the recycling symbol (icon? not really sure there), medical symbol, radiation symbol, biohazard symbol (ok the last two aren't "Positive" but aren't normally related to bad things like the swastika), then a bunch of icons with a few negative symbols ie swastika and the KKK symbols. But an actual over whelming amount of good stuff. The idea is so that people know we are here, like at a football match people recognise each other based on clothes, colours, and symbols (ie whatever the symbol is for the football team is they are rooting for). It's for recognition not for separation. That is my idea. I totallly understand where you are coming from and it is a valid point and I hope to hear from others so that we could more or less have a poll about this topic because it's for the tribe and if the tribe doesn't like the idea then i scrap it.

You are right, when i look at them again, they are mostly positive. Most of the good ones are related to concepts or ideas. Not groups. Take the gay community, they use the symbol of the rainbow, but the rainbow isn't about the gay community it's about how everyone is different and that is what makes us beautiful, all the colours of the rainbow. It is a symbol that accepts everyone because it is an idea that accepts everyone. It also represents hope for change. It's not a symbol of a group. The same with the Peace Symbol and the Ying Yang. Football kits exist to stop football players accidentally passing the ball to people on the other team. We have no enemies! Our only enemy is impossibility. We want to share the ball with everyone! That's the empathy symbol, I don't know much about the origin of the symbol itself, but it's an awesome idea. Something like this, a symbol that can be recognized as representing our values and NOT as representing us, because we are not the world but we include the world. Something like the empathy symbol (which I love) but with a few differences, maybe with a rainbow or maybe inside of a heart shape or something completely different.. I don't know.. Oh I gotta show you this: It's the ubuntu logo, Ubuntu is the name of a free open source OS. The name comes from the African word ubuntu which has been translated as meaning: 'Humanity to others' or 'I am what I am because of who we all are'. It means that if one of us is hurting then we all are. I think the logo/symbol illustrates that perfectly.

That is something we could work with. that is impressive that you thought up something so fast he didn't come up with that, it's the logo for the brand etnies, he was being sarcastic I like this: but yeah, I agree, has to be something easy to draw. IMO it should reather involve something "pogo" than something "moon", so it refers to the tribe itself in stead of our residence..

I always fall for sarcasm on the net ( i don't have very good dection skills for that online. I simply trust the goodness of the pogotribe). RabbitWho I love the concept of both symbols and it's a good idea to have our "values" not "us" represented in our symbol. Just like in the example you gave in the Gay pride flag it represented an ideal not the "gays" (i hate useing that word like that) themselves. Now I'd like to use the concepts but not the symbols themselves (legal issues and all that) I know you're not suggesting that we use them exactly as they are but their ideas are great. Thank you.

I put a circle and SPOTM in the center... btw the circle isn't meant to be the moon it's actually earth. I put SPOTM in the little circle to represent us (Pogotribe is was too long to fit at that size ). The little circle represents not that we are centered in one location but that we will have an influence on this planet (or when we do get there it will represent that influence). What do you think?

*sighs* not yet I had a few ideas but they went out the window a few posts back because the whole concept got bigger and my small idea's couldn't handle them. RabbitWho suggested that we work around our values, which is a good idea. Your design is great, when i meant expand on it was that we stylise it a little (for offical look and keep the basic for everyday look), give the text character, etc. If that is what you want. It's your idea and heck it's a great idea. Any feed back is definately welcome. I'll post my idea old ideas ASAP but I don't think that they'll work for the bigger ideas that we now have
