I'm currently making a design saying: Smile (on) you're on SPOTM now! ------------------------------------------- Should I include the "on" and should it be SPOTM or southpoleofthemoon.com ? I think you should leave out that first "on" and leave it as SPOTM. Also, has anyone noticed that "weird" is spelled wrong in one of the designs? i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu335/Mashuga/PogotribeConcept2.jpg?t=1270807460

It's not spelled wrong, it's just spelled weirdly.

Okay, I'm going to give my honest opinion about the design, if I say something harsh, excuse me, I didn't mean to offend you. I just want to make sure this works out as good as it can. i661.photobucket.com/albums/uu335/Mashuga/PogotribeConcept2.jpg?t=1270807460What I don't like about it: 1) It's simple 2) It's easy to print (no colours) What I don't like about it: 1) There are three different fonts in such a small piece, that's way too much and looks really amateurish 2) The fonts you use aren't really contributing to the design. tinypic.com/r/122kbpv/5What I like about it: 1) The text is.. kind of funny What I don't like about it: 1) It's just not beautiful. I'm sorry I really have no other way of saying this... It looks like it's done in Paint in about 10 minutes. I'm really really sorry to bash your design like that, but as I said, I'm just trying to be honest and objective. i39.tinypic.com/s44b5f.pngWhat I like about it: 1) It looks good 2) It's really original and creative What I don't like about it: 1) I would only use the left side and just say "Welcome to OUR universe". I don't think we should refer to Dan, don't know why, but that just seems kind of weird :s 2) It would cost a LOAD of money to produce these shirt. You've got a SHIRTload of colours going on and per extra colour you use you pay extra to print.. Also the glowing borders (on the Rubix' Cube) are quite expensive to print. A note to Sean, as you organise this, ASK PEOPLE TO MAKE THEIR DESIGNS IN CMYK, NOT IN RGB. When you print something that was designed in RGB, the colours will come out different. So make it in CMYK and you'll be fine. For people who don't know how to change that: Or, if you've already started on your design, go to: IMAGE > MODE > CMYK This is for Photoshop, I don't know about GIMP or anything like that..

^ Good feedback, and thanks for the tip: we will do that when we reproduce the designs to be put on the shirt.
This will also fix the fact the second one looks like it was done in paint as we will smooth out the edges to make it more suitable for a t-shirt... although we will try to keep as close to the design as possiable we do eant these shirts to look perfect, if that means we need to make small changes...

Constructive criticism appreciated. To be fair, though, I am working with limited resources (Paint and Corel Paint Shop Pro- which I'm probably not even using to its full extent). Also, it does look awful compared to the time I spent working on it. I admit that. I'm actually really displeased that I spent four or five hours working on it now that I take a closer look. I guess the thing I was really happy about was how the letters for SPOTM came out because they were my main concern when I was sketching it out.

you can easily download an illegal version of photoshop, though I probably shouldn't be advertising that here.. :/ your idea was good though, and if you mad that image in your signature, I think you've got some talent

I'm opposed to downloading anything illegally, although when I was younger I did have illegal music downloads and a GBA emulator. But then I learned it was wrong as I got older and blah blah blah.....I actually have another art program that I didn't even realize I had until yesterday when I was looking through my CD case, so it'll probably help in the future.
But seriously, thanks for your input.

IMO what's wrong is rather the excessive price people have to pay for such software.

Well, there's a reason behind it either way.
...even if that reason is just to make more money. It's not like I blame them for wanting to make money, though. Heck, if I owned something fairly large and well-known, I'd probably charge a high price for it. *cough* I'd be an awful bussiness woman *cough*

that doesn't change the fact that software prizes are absurdely high.. if Photoshop CS4 MC costs about $150, of course there's going to be a lot of downloads. People like me can't afford that.. If they would make it $50 dollars however, I would buy it. And so would a lot of other people. I'm actually quite sure they'd make more money out of it.

^ Lol, there is a difference: Taking my TV would be taking something away from me and I wouldnt have it anymore Copying a program is not taking it away from the previous owner... just not giving them something in return... So feel free and make a copy of my TV but dont steal it as I need it for my xbox

So you don't believe in copyright? You don't believe someone who's worked really hard creating a program deserves to get paid for it if they choose?
The reason Photoshop (for example) is better than the free open source alternatives you openly mock is that it's been around for longer and that it has a bigger budget and employs more people because most people are honest and pay for it if they want it.
Don't pretend like stealing Photoshop isn't the same as stealing a $150 dollars from them. It is strange to me that you actually brag about it at every opportunity. I would be ashamed. They earned that money by making an excellent program.
A lot of open source options are better than the proprietary counterparts, but there's no true alternative to photoshop yet. Anyway this is off topic.

What the rabbit said. You are stealing 150$ (I assume that's how much PS costs) from them.

What the rabbit said. You are stealing 150$ (I assume that's how much PS costs) from them. Actually it is US$699 for the newest one. No individual could afford that unless they were going to seriously use it, If I hadn't copied those programs then I would not be in the position I am in now, I would not have been able to earn some good money off of webdesign, I wouldn't have been able to self teach myself Flash, I wouldnt be able to Edit videos for personal enjoyment (WMM is not fun) I would be alot worse off that Adobe are in scale. And i'm not saying everyone should go and get a copy just to put them out of money... but without those I would be alot less fortunate... Its not as if you are forced to download it... If you want to use the open source programs then great, but I am good using my Photoshop and othe top of the range models... as is many other people who use photoshop Anyways... Back on topic Some good designs coming through Its going to be close for first
