In Dan's last Pogotok, he made it very clear that he believed we went from a level 4 to a level 3 tribe. We took a step back, but we can bring ourselves back up and learn from our mistakes. I have two questions: one, do you think we ever really made it to level 4? And two, how close do you think we are to making it back to where we were before all that drama of last week?
Personally, I'm not sure we ever were quite at a level 4. We came very, very close, but I feel like there were still enough people in the tribe acting on a level 3 that it kept the whole tribe down. And I'm not saying I wasn't one of those.
I also believe we are well on our way to making it back to where we were before. To be honest, I'm really not sure how close we are, but I definitely think we are making great progress. Since Dan's last Pogotok, there have already been numerous (successful) attempts to bring the tribe closer together and to step up to a level 4 tribe. The effort people are making is incredible, whether they set forth movements, or participate in them.

I think we did. It wasn't just the admins who "failed," even though Dan did make it seem that way in his Pogotok. A lot of people I saw were also being rude and disrespectful to the admins, it wasn't just the admins being rude and disrespectful to them. A lot of people wanted information for themselves, because they were fatally curious. In the midst of all that drama, what good was being done for the tribe?

I think I only saw two people who were attacking the admins, and noboby was attacking the job they were doing. Even if you're angry with them, you've got to admit that they do an awesome job with admnistrating. But the whole reason this happened was because some people called into question the admin's obsessive and hugely unnesisary secrecy. Tribal level is irrelvant.

I think it's impossible not to fluctuate from time to time. With such a large scale, and the fact that everyone is accept, you're going to have a decent percent of people who will act on their own, and not with the tribe. These people will probably be thinned out, but it will re-occur. I am in no way saying any of the people involved in the conflict are like this, I'm just saying that's how it is. I do however believe one or two of them could stand to be a little less cocky.

I never thought that we were at a level 4, but we were close... The way we acted was definitely on a level 3. It was more than just questioning the admins--people were really rude to them and to each other. I guess most people didn't say bad things.. but there were quite a few people saying some things that really surprised me.. and they were some of the most active people here.. While there are technically 1800+ spotm members, there are very few people that make up the core of the community, and some of those people were getting involved in the drama. So even if we didn't all do it, it still affected the whole tribe. Also, I don't think we should point fingers and say "They moved down a level, but I didn't." We're all in this together, and if one of us moves down, we all do.

We're all in this together, and if one of us moves down, we all do. We as a tribe need to keep the I's from I'ng (does that makes sense?) But indeed, to use a quote from different things: "We're all in this together" We're a tribe as a collective so if one small part changes, we all change. (butterfly >> hurricane effect) So we need to keep working on getting every thing and every body right but quite frankly I believe we're gonna get drama a lot of times and everytime we have some, we need to learn from it.. We're still evolving so it's okay =D (As for the "questiong the admins" - part, I wasn't around here while it was happening, I got some glimps of it but in general questioning is okay.. (PDBAZ?!) but i guess no in the way we did here..) ps. my first reaction when I saw the title: We're on the moon

I think that the whole drama in the past week actually brought us closer to level 4 than we ever were. It's like in a good friendship.. You can't have a healthy friendship without having a "fight" or at least a disagreement from time to time. These make relationships a lot stronger.

I think that we were at level 4, but I think we went down to around a 3.5

We have never been level 4 before. Pretending we all love each other and hiding our thoughts because they might hurt someone does not make us a level 4 tribe. Insulting people and treating them like some people did does make us a level 3 tribe, tho.
I'm sorry.

We shouldn't be worrying what level we are. imo. Personally, I think it is a good thing to take into consideration. This is because Dan's goal for the tribe, and hopefully the goal of the tribe members as well, is to reach a level 5. That's obviously going to take some time, but if and once we get there, it will definitely be well worth the effort. Plus, in one of Dan's videos, I believe he said that if things get too crazy, we need to take a step back and say "Whoa, okay, what tribal level am I / are we acting on?"

Dan did indeed say that. And while the direction of the tribe was heading in the direction that a level 4 tribe would, many of the people and motives behind the progress were unequivocally level 3. It seems convoluted, but you can fake a tribal level for self-interest, and I think we saw a little bit of that here. I also think that MCPuppet makes a point, that our ninth value states that we will accept all who accept the previous 8 values, but since the SPOTM forum doesn't have a "Do you meet these values" entrance exam (Not saying it should), any and all riff-raff can get into the PogoTribe and go "Meh, this looks cool, I bet I can get a YouTube celebrity to mention me on his show if I do this, I'll play along." While in NO WAY am I suggesting that some of the drama that has unfolded here is reflective of people of that nature, we cannot ignore that people like that can and WILL find their way into the PogoTribe.

I definitely agree with what you're saying. Still, people like this will become exposed in the end if they stay true to their original intentions. And if they do, in fact, do a very good job of covering it up, then they could easily fall into the values of the PogoTribe without even realizing it, while pretending.
