I'm not sure if I really agree with this value (erm, does that make me not a member of the PogoTribe?). I could be wrong on this, and if so, please correct me, but it just seems to me that this value encourages people to, well, stand by what they know to be true, and this implies not keeping an open mind. If your having a discussion with someone, and you intend to stand by what you know to be true, does that not mean that you are automatically entering the discussion with a closed mind? And isn't a closed mind one of the things Dan discourages?
Besides, I have noticed that although Dan always says he puts his thoughts out on YouTube so that people might disagree with him, and perhaps he can change his views by listening to those disagreements with an open mind, I have yet to see a time when Dan admits the other person is right. I have yet to see a time when Dan realizes the faults in his own logic and admits that he was wrong. He has always "stood by what he knew to be true." I just don't find this value to be such a good one.
By the way, I'm not at all intending to attack Dan here, because he is totally awesome, and I seriously respect him.

I think it means more along the lines of "Believe what you want, and be open to others. If you believe one thing and another person believes another, thats okay. You should discuss and be open, but you need to think for yourself."
If we change because of another person has persuaded us, then great. But this value also ties in with PDBAZ. If you stand by what you know to be true, you wont be a zombie.

There is also "8. Accept that we don't know everything." "7. Stand by what we know to be true" is more like "Don't be a zombie." 8 covers the open mindedness. 7 just means you shouldn't blindly believe anything that contradicts something you already believe, it doesn't mean you shouldn't have an open mind.

I've always thought number 7 and 8 meant, "Stick to what you know, but let people persuade you if their argument makes sense"

I think he's telling us to be skeptical.
