In his last Pogotok, Dan mentioned natural leaders, and I think this concept has been overlooked. I don't really know what to say about it, but I think we should discuss it. I'm kind of confused.. Like, do we need to know who the natural leaders are? Is there one set of natural leaders, or should we each have our own? Discuss!

I think natural leaders do a good job of making themselves known to the rest of us, and this is why we know who the natural leaders are. I'm not sure I know what you mean by your last sentence :/

I mean, there are some people on the forum that I consider my leaders, and I look up to them.. but maybe you look up to different people, and have different leaders...

If we were to list natural leaders, then they wouldn't really be natural anymore... But yeah, there are definitely people that I look up to as well.

Like John said, we don't need to list natural leaders. Everybody will have their own set, as well. It's like role models: not everybody has the same ones. They don't have to be administrators, either. They will emerge, well, naturally. xD

Oaky... The way Dan said it made it seem like there are specific leaders.. I guess that wasn't a very long discussion >_<

Well, people have many different role models, but I think by natural leaders are those who take matters into their own hands, who step up to the plate, who won't be afraid to help. Those people are natural leaders, and when Dan leaves, they will naturally step in. I already can think of some.

The next time someone wants to introduce me to their role model/mentor, I'm going to say, "Taake me to your leader!"

If they are natural leaders, you would already know that they are leaders without being told so.

If they are natural leaders, you would already know that they are leaders without being told so. Is that the actual definition of a natural leader? I thought it was the kind of guy who naturally knew how to boss people around.

I thought it was the kind of guy who naturally knew how to boss people around. It is the followers which define a leader. So a leader is not someone who knows how to boss people around, it is actually the person who makes people want to be bossed around by him/her. That is what I understand. But the word bossed around refers more to a manager, a leader is more about team work.

Yay! What a lovely thread. Everyone has already said everything I would think of to say. You are all my leaders!

I think the leaders are the people you consider to be your leader. I think the cool thing about the pogotribe is that the Admins don't expect everyone to just zombie after them, people are thinking for themselves, and as such people get a chance to give themselves an e-face, and as such leaders can emerge, even ones without a rainbowy name. ^^ Then again, I probably speak to different people than you, which means that different people have an e-face to me, which means that I have different leaders than you. ^^ Also, we have our shared values, but some embody those better than others. I think the people who really keep the values at heart and try to keep the community alive, are considered leaders. ^^

'Natural leader' can mean a lot of things. On one hand, it can be someone like a number 1 type personality who has great organizational skills and a strong sense of logic. Conversely, a number 8 personality type who is just simply a control freak by nature could be given the same label.
(...FYI the personality profiling system I'm making reference to is the enneagram.)

I have a lot of people who I would think would make great natural leaders.... ok I lied I can only think of 3.
Among those are some people I'd actually call good "role models" on the forum. I mean everyone has their own role models, and it'd probably be pointless to share who they are *cough cough, rabbitwho* anyway.
