Okay, ignore the corny title. d:
Does anybody else here own a website? Personally, I've been dabbling in web design / development for almost four years. I love it.
If you answered yes to that question, perhaps we can use this thread to discuss anything and everything concerning the world of websites and owning one!
Or, maybe you're interested in this hobby? If you have any questions, you can ask them here. I'd be glad to answer them if I can, and I'm sure other webmasters will be glad to lend a hand, as well.
So yup, the webmaster discussion / questions thread. That's what this is.

Hey i have a question. I'm thinking of creating a website for the taekwondo school I teach at. I was wondering if there were any places where i could download templates so it would be easier to make it.

@ricky: This is a good place to start: www.freecsstemplates.org/. If you have any problems editing it, I'd be glad to help. grover: Well, there are two steps to start with. 1) What will your site focus on? What's the topic? 2) You'll need to learn HTML, and probably CSS as well if you want to design the appearance of your site. You can visit the site I linked Ricky to if you don't understand coding that well.

I don't have a website, and currently know very little about the specifics of creating one. Maybe sometime in the future. This site that I found a while back seems to have a good overview of the information needed to get started: www.thesitewizard.com/gettingstarted/startwebsite.shtml

Oh what a lovely thread to have! Heres a really helpful link for learning lots of web design coding: www.w3schools.comI'm a musician but I'm a big fan of learning to do stuff myself and had already learned html and css during my online gaming days. My site is actually hosted at fourfour which means I have to kind work around there template which is kinda annoying but they also offer a lot of neat things for bands. Like shows posting to all my site all around the internet and such. Which is quite good. www.dearolivejuice.comwww.dearolivejuice.com

Another great place for building a website is www.squarespace.com (wysiwyg) I didn't code mine, I use Photoshelter to host my photographic portfolio, I bought my own domain though! I felt like a big feat at the time . www.tomsaundersphotography.com

I'm webmaster for my choir and will launch a new design on April 20 (or something), 'cause I'm using the choir website as a school project and that's the deadline ^^ I usually do all the coding myself, since I'm a control freak.

I'm kinda into making websites as a hobby, and been into some HTML, CSS, JavaScript and (especially) PHP, although I've never really had my own website.
I'm thinking about buying my own domain name and stuff, although I'm not really sure if it's worth it. Any opinions?
