Reviving a decaying thread? Ignore if you prefer. As a woman, I understand how decades of "nice girls don't do it" can have a lasting effect on us regarding anything and everything sexual. Ladies don't have sex drives. Ladies don't think about sex. Ad nauseum. As for the argument of simply not talking about it? I don't think that's the right way of going about it, either, especially for women. That's actually part of the problem. Did you know that there are actual classes for women in which you explore your sexuality, examine your vagina in great detail, and learn to masturbate? It's about being at home in your body, comfortable in your sexuality, and loving everything about yourself. Early in this thread people were talking about how many women lie about/deny masturbating. While I'm sure there are some that do, I'd imagine the percentage of women who masturbate is lower than the % of men who do. The whole process is simpler for men and becomes extremely obvious during puberty. Not necessarily so for women. It is entirely possible for a women to be largely unaware of her own sexuality, probably for her entire life, if she isn't curious and has no partners. I'm not sure if such a thing is possible for a man. Also, people keep saying "we all do it, but we don't need to talk about it." That's my point. Why does everything think it's something we shouldn't talk about? Why is it so taboo? It's as natural as pooping, which we also don't talk about. I guess my main point here is that taboos are stupid and pointless and should die? I agree with what others said about it being a private thing which is more 'adult' than something like pooping I can't imagine it ever being a useful addition to a conversation unless you were having an non sequitur war. It's right up there with sores & boils and talking to yourself in the awkward pause library.

On the subject of masturbation, there is only one thing to say:
JUST DO IT

I'm so not reading five pages worth of post.
I don't really see what the big deal with it is. Does everyone do it? Probably. Do I do it? Yes, regularly. In fact, I read that for any male, sexually active or not, it's perfectly normal the masturbate a few times a week.
Anything more than once a day and you're getting off too much.

Anything more than once a day and you're getting off too much. Very much untrue and subjective. Most teenage boys do it around twice a day.

Anything more than once a day and you're getting off too much. Every doctor I've ever talked to says there is no healthy limit.

wow hey some one said we dont need to talk about masterabtion but you know what.. at least once a week me and a bunch of co workers talk about either sex masturbation or some other bodily function. it is true that not many women get into the conversation and usualy it ends as fast as it started but still we some how get to the conversation every week.
also seeing that i am single masturbation is more or less a daily ritual.
my brothers are the compleat oppisit though they think that sex and masturbation and poop and what have you are not subjects to talk about and should never be mentioned in public.
i talk of whatever when ever and only hold my toung around young ones who could be influenced badly by my choice of topic or language. also everyone i know masturbates. some dont talk about it but we all can tell when they haven't had time to...
so in summation pull out the lotion get out some good "reading" material and have at it.
