I am currently in my High School's play. I opted for a minor role due to my acting inexperience. Regretting that decision.

I joined drama class for next year, which is something I've wanted to do for two years now, but haven't had the chance to (too many other courses I've had to take).
Being in plays doesn't interest me. If anything, I'd act in my own short/feature length films that I'd independently make.

Once during the play, we had the roof of a shack fall off, so during the blackout we had someone go behind it and hold it up for the next scene. We forgot that the next scene was the longest, so she was holding it up for about an hour or something. Maybe it was just 40 min.
Also... This was twelfth night. And there was this one part when the girl and the boy are announcing their love for each other. They go on about it for about 10 minutes in some crazy shakespearean way, but the girl forgot ALL of those lines, so there was an awkward silence at first, then she shouted "MARRY ME!" and the girl playing the guy said "uhh... madame... I WILL" and it was very very funny.
Then last year, our class did this super boring play (Stage Door... nobody liked their parts so nobody really got into it so nobody liked it because we made it boring... sorry) anyways... so there was this senior who was such a jokester. He was casted as the smallest part you can get, he only had one line where someone asked him "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your last name" "Just Billy". Was his line. That jokester kid decided to change it for closing night pranks and said "It's cornelious actually..." and it was HIGH-LARIOUS (it was a tradition to try and mention that name, but our teacher said anybody it did it anymore would... I forgot what but it wal something terrible all right.)
We also did Get Smart that semester because we already finished Stage Door and we had time to make another play. The bad guy was Mr. Big, and we decided to add in a little character as Mr. Big's minion (this awesome kid who's a junior but looks like a baby) and the bad guys all had scars, the minion's scar was a cut on the left side of his mouth. For closing night (pranks?) we put a scar on both sides of his mouth and put it a little joker card on his black fedora. It was pretty cool. Get Smart was super fun.

I would definitely say that I am a theatre nerd, seeing as I would like to major in Musical Theatre. And I've had manymanymany experiences, [too many to include all on here] but definitely one of the most hectic moments was during my most recent show [Guys n Dolls] during the Sit down your rocking the boat scene. Well, we had to dance around with these tambourines. Well, my tambourine mysteriously dissapeared when I went to reach for it! Other than that, it was a great show.
The show before that [Thoroughly Modern Millie] there was a kinda crazy mishap after the jail scene. The lights went black at the end of scene as planned, but the stage crew had put the props in the WRONG wings. Resulting in when we went to exit the stage, EVERYONE ran into the sharp wooden sets, resulting in costume rips, hurt people, bloody scratches and even a sprained ankle . Not only that, but some mics were still on as people cursed at the fact that they were tripping and couldn't see because it was pitch BLACK. Our director had a few "choice" words to say to the stage crew, that was for sure.

M for Murder is coming near me soon. Should I see it? How should I know if a different production of the same show I'm doing will be any good? It's a good script but there are a number of things outside the script, director, cast, crew, ect. that could really ruin the play. Having a good back stage crew is important to this show because it's fairly prop heavy. Anything that gets used in evidence has to be there or the crime can't be solved. In any show, a good cast is important. And in this show especially, a bad director, even with a good cast, could hurt the show. I would say, yes go see it, but keep an open mind about it. Don't allow this one production to turn you off the play.

Hi! I pretty much adore theatre...my family runs an amateur drama company so I've pretty much had little choice but to adore it.
I'd sit and go through all the shows I've acted in or worked back stage on...but it'd take a while..
Also I've had pretty horrific mishaps on stage...I fell off the stage during a weird show version of Canterbury Tales....no one's ever let me forget it...I tumbled off , lay there for a second before limping quickly out of the theatre. =/
