I've had the beta for quite some time, but not really being a serious "gamer", I've only played about twenty games, most are 2v2's with my friend. I only really know how to play Protoss, and even then, my ability is limited. But as a general question, what is your favorite tech so far? I know it's odd, but I love teching to Mothership, just because I love playing long game, and growing an army, not so much rushing as soon as you have one Immortal or whatnot.
Also, to anyone who is interested, I have an extra beta key. I'd be happy to give it to the first one who asked. (Make it a personal message though, as to not spam this thread with people asking.)

Someone tell me about this game. I might want it. I've never played the first one or seen gameplay from it, so.
Also, from the posts here, it seems like you battle/fight/compete with other people, not NPCs. Is there an option to just play alone, and set the difficulty of an Computer player? 'Cause otherwise, I'll hate it.

You can play alone in the beta, but only against Very Easy. In the full game, there will be an entire story in Single Player. They mainly want people playing multiplayer for the beta, so they can fix balance issues and such with the races.

It's a pretty good RTS. Nothing has changed since the first one, so you can try the first and imagine the exact same game but with 10 years of graphic improvement.
Also, in the full game, there's a map editor so you can mess around with the game mechanics and units.

I think a lot of the techs and what not have changed, and are constantly changing with each update. These changes help to create a fun gaming and learning experience, while keeping it balanced and new. I may not have played the first a ton, but as an avid player of the beta, I know a lot is different.

I believe this is so everyone can get acclimated with all the new units which differ from Starcraft I and come up with strategies for when the real game comes out. There are leaked versions, or hacked not sure, of the campaign floating around, including the awesome campaign difficulty level option they have now, but again you would not acquire this through a 5 dollar pre-order. Always says there is one, I have not tried, so I guess there is lol

I love ladder too. But after playing the same game for two years, ladder becomes horribly boring. It's always the same thing. Custom games are incredible. They are built by the community, so there are always new maps coming, and even old maps get newer versions. Some custom games like DotA become incredibly popular. DotA is probably more popular than wc3 itself.

Ugh. The only custom games right now are some pretty lame TDs.

There will probably be alot more in a few weeks since blizzard is taking down the beta for a few final software changes and server upgrades.
People will use the time to make their custom games.
