I suspect I would like star trek, judging from the 09 movie, but I've been watching star wars since I was 4, so yeah

I LOVE STARWARS

Well my dad is big sci-fi fan so I grew up with Star Trek, Star Wars, Dr. Who, and other shows I can't remember right now. At the time before I had my own T.V. my dad was into Star Trek more than anything else so The Next Generation is the cast I grew up with. I never really got into the other series though. I did watch Deep Space 9 because it started on TNG and had 2 of the same cast members and I watched a few episodes of Voyager where TNG cast members guest stared but other than that I haven't gotten too into it. I can't even stand to watch the original Star Trek because for one thing as a kid I just thought the effects were really fake and as an adult I think the writing sucks. Dr. Who kinda dropped off the face of the Earth for a while and my dad recently got back into it and I've tried to get into but I don't really like it... Not sure why I find it similar to Hitchhiker's Guide and Douglas Adams even wrote some of the episodes for it but it just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe it has something to do with the way they approach the humor? H2G2 tends to make everything a joke while Dr. Who introduces similar ideas but tries to approach them seriously instead of rolling with the joke. Hard to explain and I'm not good at explaining things. Anyway... Star Wars I like all 6 of the main films but not into any of the expanded universe. Allot of people think the new films were all crap and I have some problems with them but not any more issues with the new ones than with the original movies. Episode 1: My main issue with this movie is how they never again ever mention that C-3P0 was built by Anikin. That seems weird that no one talks about that. Episode 2: How is it that Anikin ages like 4 years while Padme stays the same age? Reading online they were actually closer to the same age from the start but they had an adult woman playing what was apparently suppose to be a 14 year old girl. There was no love connection between Anikin and Padme in the first movie at all, if there was then she's a freaking pedophile. I swear she looked at least 18 and that kid playing Anikin was like 12 at the most. So now in this movie, Padme doesn't look any older and the 12 year old is suddenly an age match for her. Getting passed this however I still love the epic battle at the end of the movie. Episode 3: Darth Tyranus' light saber is designed to double as a blaster, sadly it never got to be used as a blaster. I really wish that they kept him in the movie longer and didn't bother introducing General 4 arms because he's kind of a pointless character. Well, so was Darth Maul but at least he got to kill someone and was actually a Sith Lord instead of a wannabe Darth Vader. My other issue with episode 3 is the way the Jedi were killed off. I can almost see Darth Vader going around killing adults but the children were rather uncalled for and why the hell were so many Jedi so easily over powered by Clone Troopers. Heck they could of killed most of the Jedi in the fight scene at the end of episode 2, that would of been more fitting. Mace Windu's death was acceptable, I think everyone else just got killed by Clones which is stupid beyond stupid. And why did they do the whole shocking deformed thing with Darth Sidious? I always just thought he was old not deformed, he didn't need an origin story for that, it's called aging. How did Chewbacca met Han Solo? Chewbacca was in episode 3 but there was never a Han Solo, they could of introduced both of them at the same time but no they decided to create a plot hole by introducing only 1 of the Falcon team duo. Han and Chewbacca always need to be together or show how they meet each other. Episode 3 really created more plot holes than it filled. Episodes 4 5 and 6 I can't really remember which events happened in which movies, it's been a while sense I've seen them so I'll do this in one part... Darth Vader cuts off his son's hand and stands there watching as his son is being killed for some time before finally coming to the rescue. Worst... father... ever! No one bothers to tell Luke and Leia that they're twins till AFTER they have a make out session. Accidental incest sucks, I bet they both took LONG showers after they found out. Ben commits suicide. Yoda is actually a better character in the old movies and I'm not making fun of the puppet, I'm making fun of the fact that episode 123 Yoda is a wise bad ass Jedi and 456 Yoda is a crazy loon. Luke calls himself a Jedi master even though he really isn't and he's told that several times. Are we sure he's not on the dark side? Huge battle station can't defend one tiny little weak spot and gets blown up... TWICE. Sith defeated by ewalks is worse then Jedi defeated by clones. I think that pretty much covers it but despite all the flaws I still like the movies.

D: D: D: THAT POST MADE ME FACEPALM SO HARD. Before I go into this, I too like episodes 4 5 and 6 more.
Are you sure? It's been a while but I'm sure they did since he was like half built in his bedroom
I guess you're right there. I think the love relationship started between movies. Well, Anikin's weird crush. I don't think there was a love interest thing with a 9 and 14 year old. Creepy movie would have been creepy.
Really? You're gonna be a douche and call him that? Dude, just Count Dooku works. What annoys me is when people try to sound smart by calling them a name no one else calls them. And you said you didn't like the story outside the 6 movies. When is he called Darth Tyranus in the 6 movies?
Why would he? He's a Jedi. Han lied when he said that quote about fancy weapons and ancient religions that I'm too lazy to google.
Remember Binks? Star Wars is the king of pointless characters! Meh, I liked him... kinda. I didn't hate him. Also, Grievous, General Grievous.
Wait, Grievous? How was he a Darth Vader wannabe when Vader didn't even exist yet? (NO DON'T GO FUCKING WITH ME ABOUT ANIKIN WAS ALIVE. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) Also, Grievous was a general in the army. Vader was a Sith Lord under Sidious. Difference.
DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH HATE WAS IN ANIKIN? SEW MUCH HAYT! ALSO HE THOUGHT HE'D SAVE PADME. HE DID IT OUT OF LOVE D:
You realize how many there were, right? Plus Anikin, now Lord Vader, was leading. He probably did most of the killing. Also, 5 Clones > 1 Jedi. The Jedi were out-numbered. Oh, and they're Clones, not Clone Troopers.
I... I don't get it. Why would they? They were working with the Jedi at the time. Order 66 had not have been given. Plus, there were probably more clones that overthrew the Jedi in episode 3 than at the end of Episode 2.
K that wasn't needed.
Do we know that was Chewbacca, soon to be co-pilot of the Falcon?
I didn't get if you said you like the more or not
Comes to the rescue? What?
Actually, he is by Episode 6. Look it up
The first time was the weak spot. The second time was a much larger scale attack
No, the Empire was defeated by ewoks. Not "Sith". That's like saying The Republic is a synonym for Jedi. No. Not at all.
K I'm done now.

I like showing my knowledge so I'm bumping this thread with a double post
Let's get one thing straight (ok a few things). Count Dooku, also known as Darth Tyranus to the Sith, was the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems (or the CIS). He was also a Sith Lord training under Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious. General Grievous was a General for the CIS's droid army. He was also second in line for head of the Confederacy (like a vice president)
Palpatine's plan throughout Episode's 1, 2 and 3 was to create the CIS to counter the Republic, then, when both sides were almost defeated, get rid of the CIS and change the Republic into the Empire. He did this successfully. The way he did this, was by staging he own capture, and having Anakin and Obi Wan save him and kill Count Dooku, the leader of the CIS, in the process. General Grievous was needed to take over after Dooku died. This is why he was needed. For future reference, when Grievous died, Nute Gunrray took over as head. He died on Mustafar in the hands of the newly appointed Lord Vader.
Ok, I'm done. No one read this. I feel accomplished.

Star Wars! Even though I've never watched Star Trek, I still say Star Wars. =) I liked the Episodes 1-3 a whole lot. The others were a bit boring in my opinion. Also I grew up watching it.

I think the battle with Grievious was quite cool, SINCE Most of the battles in 1-3 was just throwing you lightsabers about and hoping it hits something NOT THAT THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT It's cool in it's own way. BUT I like it how the battle's with Grievious don't go to that, they are more like battles, raw energy and just trying to get the other guy...if you get what I'm saying

Umm... Lightsaber battles are like that, they just know how to block >.< Ok, how about Palpatine vs Yoda in the Galactic Senate? That was pretty intense! 2.) I guess I get it? You just mean it was more than just *woosh* *shing* *shing* *shing* dead 3.) Grievous*

the thing i love most about star trek is that it gets better with age and every new addition is better than the last.
while star wars keeps getting worse with the more back story they add to it.

TO OP: I never really became a fan of either. but I'm gonna go with Star Trek because I loved the J.J. Abram's movie.
I'm not a big fan of the Star Wars films. I haven't seen them all, and I don't find them memorable or really all that great. I have nothing against Star Wars, it just doesn't really appeal to me so much.

I love both! But I must say I love Star Trek more. "I'm a Doctor, not a Physicist!" I find the constant arguing between Bones and Spock hilarious! I even dressed up as Spock for a party! (I'm such a geek) I love; - How the red shirts always dies - How the camera always stays TOO long on the beeping and blinking computers - "Beam me up, Mr. Scott" - The laser pistols - How Kirk always get's laid Of course, my love for Star Trek is for the Original Series. I haven't even seen the other series, too scared to get disappointed!

I love how nerdy this thread is. A lot. Because I grew up watching them *both.* For my seventh birthday, I had a princess party. Our plates and napkins and all that were Phantom Menace themed. I ate my pink cake off of Anakin's face. I was definitely Spock for Halloween. Multiple times. Also "I am a red shirt in the Star Trek episode of life."
So of course, I picked both. And if you only like one, I suggest you try/retry to watch the other with an open mind. You might just love it. ^_^
