Does anyone else think that if something like 'go die' was rated #1 that Dan /wouldnt/ do it? I mean, he has some sense... Dan will not do anything illegal. To put it the way he put it when I asked: "We're changing society within society's rules." THAT phrasing sounds really awesome.

You compared to most people that watch him are two completely different things. Yeah, if it were you, me, and Ricky telling him what to do, we'd tell him to get his ass on Skype and help us change the world. But like you've said so many times, most people don't care about making a difference. I don't foresee them wanting Dan to make a difference when they themselves don't try. I suspect that most people here would be interested in getting Dan to do helpful, world changing stuff instead of "pooping in the river". If we can organize the moon we might be able to use this great opportunity. That's a pretty big "if." The moon is kind of a mess right now...

@bojl But america decided as a whole that we want and age limit, why would we want to betray that? But as Breepop just mentioned, we are staying in society's rules

lucytie says who? it's not impossible... it's IMPROBABLE, but not impossible. Laws prevent him from running. The only way to make it possible is to get a congressional vote to make an exception. We control Dan, not the US Congress and Supreme Court.

lucytie well........... yeah. in that aspect, i'm actually wrong lol (just figured that out). but what i'm trying to say here is that IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE! you're basically implying that no rule has EVER been changed or EVER been broken. that's just not how it is in the world. and i'm also trying to point out that we can't get anywhere with that kind of thinking. if we limit ourselves to avoiding big things and avoiding change, we just won't get anywhere.

Anyway, I don't know.. I like that he's trying to relate the soccer team to something new, but I don't feel like applying it to him is a good idea. The fans ran the soccer team, and now Dan's fans will be running his life. He says that he "doesn't use the f word," but this project is just going to increase fanboyism. It'll be an interesting experiment, but I don't think it's heading in the direction that he expects. Having 13-year-old fanboys tell you what to do is not going to show the world that collaborative decisions are the best way to run things. I know everyone is going to get pissed at me for this, but this is just how I feel. I'm glad that Dan is trying to make a difference in the world, and I really want to support him. I'm just not convinced that this is as great as we were led to believe it would be. This. But still, if you look beyond Dan, and look at the "Decision Engine" and the system behind it, I think you can sense the real potential of this project. Because the truly awesome thing about this is not that we will be controlling Dan, but how we use the system he's putting in our hands. Will we make good changes to it? How do we deal with trolls? In what extent do we want to control Dan, even in detail? etc. And most importantly, what and where will Dan be in a year? Hopefully, on the other end of this, we will have a good, solid, working community controlled system of government (in this case over Dan's life), that can be implemented on a bigger scale, maybe even to rule a country. And also, hopefully Dan himself (as a result on display) to prove that it works ("hey, you know this thing I did? It was because of this system!" "really? wow, I wanna try it in my organization"). But hey, it's up to us.

I am completely speechless on this project as i am AMAZED in Dan 3.0. Also, the way Dan presented it was flawless and could not have been better. Also, I can't wait until when it's all over and he gets to go to TED and give a talk about it. Wow.. This is just fantastic.

No, the consitutional convention decided it 236 years ago. But there hasnt been any move to change it It's annoyingly hard to change the constitution, and there are bigger fish to fry in congress. If I where Dan, and run for president hit the top of the list, I would tell the audience that he would do it when he met all the requirements.

LegacyOfPaperyeah, but lucytie is saying that it's impossible for him to run for president... like it defies the laws of gravity or something. lol. we can make dan attempt to get a movement going, changing laws, so he can legally run for president, or something. and i know that all of this probably isn't going to happen. i'm just saying that it's not impossible.

@bojl But that isnt what I was saying. Rules can be mended and change, however some rule cant, and we have to accept that. Things lie on a scale. Governmental policies are high on it. If there was a law on getting a pilot's license, that could be mended. Things DO exist on a scale, it's an unavoidable fact. We have to find gaps in the wal to reach big, not bust the wall and brign everything toppling down with it.

Actually I don't think he hould run for president... not in a long time... he would first have to build up a political career to build up a base of people who would vote for him, since I can't remember anyone who ran for president twice while losing the first time
If we should use this year for anything shouldn't it be to start his political career?

lucytieKSLJAFLKJSDIALFJEWa$@*(%&*@& sorry, but you're really frustrating me right now. lol RULES CAN BE BROKEN!! they have in the past, and they will in the future. government rules have been changed by normal, everyday citizens. IT'S POSSIBLE! does it defy the laws of gravity? no. does it defy the laws of [insert any law having to do with science]? no. IT'S POSSIBLE. and what happened to the 'think impossibly big' thing?
