I think he's trying to put into perspective the kind of power our generation and the American people at large have; we can change lives. Starting with Dan's. His entire message is stressing the importance of collaboration and democracy.

Yeah, this is partially what I was thinking too. I believe this project alone can achieve great things, however, even if it doesn't, which is equally possible, it is still an exercise in the kind of community involvement Dan is trying to bring out in the world, and an exhibition of it. Even if this project alone does not succeed in bringing monumental change to the world, it will still show everyone the power of direct democracy and community, thus leading to bigger and better advancements in governments, economies, etc. Dan even explained this at the very end of his VidCon talk.

At first when people discussed the idea of Dan's life being controlled by people on the Internet, I thought... this is it? This is the Secret Project?

Then, as Dan started talking about how it could possibly change the way the world is run, I realized what this system could be used for. Dan could potentially do great things to help the world. I'm not sure if it will be world-changing, but I guess we'll just have to see how this project turns out.

I think we have yet to view everything has created and presented to us and pull it all together. we've got dans channel, the pogotribe, and Dan 3.0. the info he gave us on Dan 3.0 beforehand is that there are a million things that can be done with it, and he obviously was expecting something big to come out of it. now, let's view the pogotribe, us. he took us from a beginning community to a community that can function together, classifying us using tribe stages. now we find the link between his creating us into a "powerful" small society and him having us control his life. I believe he is expecting that he could get us up to the point of being able to work toether and make great decisions so that we can apply that to us controlling his life in a decent way and make some big changes hopefully. response?

Yeah, that makes sense. He might be hoping that it will take us up a level in the tribal stages.

Its another chapter of his life...

He explained this in his stage time.. Dan 1.0 was the time when he was getting in to pogosticking and finding youtube and getting famous with his RC toutorial... Dan 2.0 was when he was an up and comeing vloger. Now this is dan 3.0

I cant even imagine what dan 4.0 will be like!

Hmmm.

Well, it's definitely not what I expected...Even though I didn't really know what to expect. The hype suggested that Dan was single handedly going to directly and literally change the world. Obviously, that's not the case, but I do see how the context of the project can have a chain reaction. (Ofcourse, it's still not an original idea on Dan's part per say, but it's put into an original context.)

Although I gotta say, I expected a project that was going to provide relief to some of the world's problems. But Dan's project is literally just to be a puppet for a year.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure what to think cuz it could really go either way in terms of either being stupid, or doing some actual good for the world. Essentially, it's a democratic act, but on a personal scale. Well, "Democracy" brought Bush into power, right? I'm not saying it's gonna be a disaster, rather just re-enforcing my gut feeling that this could easily go either way in terms of truly good or stupid.

But I'll stand behind Dan because freethinking is how the world moves forward.

Edit: I can TOTALLY see a spin off reality TV show in Dan's near future! I'm just sayin.

I'm personally not as shocked as everyone else was. I guess I'm just too tired at the moment. This is the kind of project that can quite easily be a horrible fail.

That being said, I feel that he should tell us what his life is currently like, because as of now, it's just "Video blog, prepare for project, rinse & repeat," and since the prepare part will be gone, I'm afraid of this turning into exactly the same thing as the moderator module. Action must be taken to ensure that people make realistic long-term suggestions, and enough of them that decent ones are found. I'm also afraid that it might not last a whole year/function well for the whole year. But experiments often fail, that's an inherent risk.

I'm positive that this will not go at all as I or Dan or anyone expects, but I'm sure it will be interesting nonetheless.

We should remain optimistic though, we really should. Because something as simple as an attitude can change the outcome of this entire project. If we're all thinking "Well, I don't think it'll go very far or work very well, but let's see how it works out," then it's probably not going to go very far or work very well. On the other hand, if we actually keep an enthusiastic and optimistic attitude, that can truly turn things in a positive direction all by itself.

That being said, I believe we can accomplish great things with this project! In fact, I know we can! The viewers have total control over this, so if we want to make this turn out well, then we can! That's the beauty of it.
