Read "The Mismeasure of Man," by Dr. Stephen Jay Gould. He thoroughly bashes the concept of IQ, accusing it of being an outdated mathematical artifact and "scientific racism." This last idea is something I agree with. It was designed around the middle-class Caucasian male, and is biased in his favour.

Hardly news that the IQ test isn't a reliable measurement of intelligence, every schoolbook I've read that touches the subject says that. But I can't see how the skin color and social class one comes from matters.

I don't know my exact IQ score. I took the test, given by a professional, a few years ago and so did my sisters. My parents have since forbidden any of us to know our IQ scores. Namely between Morgan and I... because they are afraid it would cause too much competition. (sadface) Although in all honesty, they are probably correct.

LOL@already FOUR people thinking they're "gifted." I'm not sure what IQ tests you guys have been taking, but you're being lied too. The percentage of people who are actually in the gifted IQ range (or above) is so incredibly small, and it's beyond laughable that 4/7 people on an Internet forum (that mostly consists of people still in high school or early years of college) in the middle of the night who voted on this poll are actually that smart. If you're getting your results from any free website or what have you (or basically any site or system that benefits from you taking the test in some way), it's probably wrong. I've seen a lot of tests that tell you your IQ at the end, but ask you to pay to find out more information/get more details. Uh, it's definitely in their best interest to inflate that IQ score... you think you're a genius? "Heck yes you want more details!" You think you're a dumbass? "Screw this test." Huh? The tests I took were in the 3rd and 5th grades at school, and again in the 8th grade from a liscensed psychiatrist. I scored just over 130 each time. And I think you're a tad mistaken, bc kids who score over 130 got put into "gifted" classes, and there were probably 200 kids in a school of 1500 that were in those classes. You crazy

Isn't IQ supposed to measure how logical you are? This thread fails due to lack of honesty and intelligence

IQ is the ratio between your mental age and your physical age. It is tested by seeing how far ahead of your current age you demonstrate logical reasoning. The test ALWAYS demonstrates a bell curve (ty bree for posting a pic) over an entire population. The test is reworked and re-standardized every few years SO THAT IT FITS THE BELL CURVE. While sometimes, certain smaller sects of people will on average demonstrate higher IQs, that doesn't change the fact that IQ truly does fit the bell curve. Technically we are a smaller sect. Also, with the differing times between IQ tests (some younger people, some older people, taking it at different times in their lives) The poll shouldn't look anything like a bell curve. Not to mention, that forum browsers, and other form of internet geeks, tend to be slightly above average on the IQ charts. Not always, but I'd venture to guess that using the internet is pretty logical and I know hundreds of people who have trouble with it (that are around my age) so while I have no evidence, I have experience backing up this claim.

113 was my score.... but i took it after i took my sleeping pills before the test and it was 12:10 AM so i going to give myself a little swing and put myself in the "Above Average" category b/c right now I am very tired and my brain is not at its high efficiency b/c of summer
my Guess FINAL SCORE AVERAGE (During Summer Vacation) = 117-122

If we want a comparable IQ score why don't we all just take that IQ test krzych32 posted? I got 114. But since I think we all agree that IQ tests aren't a measure of complete intelligence, maybe not...?

I took the test gameboob said we should take based on krzych32's link, and I got 124 (using the "IQ Standard Deviation: 16" I have 122 on deviation 15 and 136 on deviation 34, nonetheless, all are rated on the "High" area of the scale). I also agree with you gameboob, IQ tests aren't a measure of complete intelligence. At best they are a measure of mathematical capabilities and spatial projection capabilities. EDIT: Furthermore, I think this IQ test only tests spacial projection/recognition/whatever, while missing the math and languages test. I did do an IQ test when I was in 9th grade, but the results' grading was so messed up I didn't understand anything. I just got told I could follow anything I wanted

I think that for somebody to take part in such an incredible community, intelligence must be at least average.

lol, yeahhh. I scored 154. FAKE x] Yep. If I actually had an IQ of 154, do you really think I'd be reading a forum in my free time? That's the thing about geniuses: ACTUAL geniuses are smart enough to get what they want, or at least more of it than others are able to get. Simple question, do you think someone like Elon Musk (an actual genius) is reading forum posts right now? My guess is that he's either working on engineering a rocket or he's having sex with a girl half his age.

No IQ test is accurate. There are other things that can effect one's IQ test results besides their actual intelligence. Lack of sleep for one thing.
You could be the smartest kid in your class but still score the same as the dumbest kid in class provided that you have been up all night trying to study while the dumb kid simply didn't care and slept for the night.
On the other hand if you study but no so much that you never sleep you're bound to have a much high score than someone with the same intelligence who didn't sleep or study the night before.
You should all try this. Take that online IQ test under normal conditions, wright down your score, then retake the test 24 hours later without sleeping the night before you take the test the second time.
I can't do this myself because I'm an insomniac and trying to do this would only contribute to my already minimal sleep. In other words, I have to sleep when I can or I'm going to screwed up for the next month before I can get back to a normal sleep schedule again.
