I'd say the project is a success if: a) Dan makes it through the whole year b) People vote the most on good ideas; if people start voting bad or evil ideas up, I'd say the project is a huge failure. -- and -- c) People actually come up with at least some ideas in the "THAT'S IMPOSSIBLY AWESOME, DUDE" category (or, at least, great ideas)

It will be a success if Dan, on day 366, can look back and say, "Wow. I made a difference."

Okay, so lemme try and combine what's been said so far into as short a saying as possible. Feel free to critique this: Dan 3.0 will be a success if the PogoTribe can brainstorm, plan and implement big ideas that leave us with a legitimate sense of accomplishment and don't leave Dan with any permanent damage. How's that? Would being wed to Danielle be in the category of "permanent damage"? (no offense danielle )

I agree with Dan and Real in that it'll be a success if we have a sense of accomplishment in the end and we can safely say that we did something awesome, but I think that we have to do something amazingly super-awesome. I think that it will be a success as long as Dan's life isn't hijacked by trolls, but I think that in the best-case scenario we will accomplish something big like donating large sums of cash to cancer research or something like that.

Sounds good. By the way dan I plan on using this project to send you to the gym. I'm going to make you into a triathlete by the end of the year.

I feel as if dans project will accomplish nothing and he is going to be wasting your lives by having you sit in front a computer screen for approximately one year submitting ideas that never reach the top of the charts and suggesting things that never see the light of day.
FDBSP
Note: I have extreme pessimism issues when discussing this project xD
I need to get that fixed lol.

Maybe I'm aiming a little high here, and people keep tossing around "Get someone to acknowledge the system in the real world.", but hell, why not the government?
Obviously in a year's time, our community isn't going to overthrow a system of government 10 times as old as most of our members, but at least get an audience.
Somewhere through the project (perhaps halfway), present the findings so far about the plausibility of the system in a real usage, and do so with honesty. Like it's been said numerous times, this is as much a social experiment as it is anything else, and experiments tend to have mixed results. We should honestly self-evaluate partway through, and decide if this system has any legitimate uses outside the virtual world and YouTube communities.
A lot of people want things done during the project to help change the world, which is all fine and good and I sure hope we do that; but I think the bigger end goal would be to validate the actual system behind Dan 3.0 as a legitimate form of global cooperation and decision making.
At least, that's what I feel is the amazing potential of this.

Well, in general terms that seems cool, but I think the ones who should 'brainstorm, plan and implement' should be other people as well. But you could just leave it there and instead add a line going like 'make this project go viral and make more people join the PogoTribe' in order to make sure that this project will reach out to as many people as possible and change the world we live in to the greatest effect.
Does that seem logical?

not permanent damage, but a permanent impact would be good.

When this project is over, Dan, and the World must have benefited from this, or we are just wasting our time.

Well I don't know how much the world can really benefit from this. Maybe if Dan starts groups dedicated to stuff it can but other than that it can really only benefit Dan, and maybe the Pogotribe. I think if Dan is able to expand his powers, and subscribers we can use this project to form a stronger pogotribe that is able to accomplish much more than is it now. Then. once we do that, we can slowly take over the world and make Dan Brown king of the universe right before we betray him, and kill him so we can make me king of the universe because I deserve it more. That would make it worthwhile to me. Also Dan can grow as a person or something stupid like that.
