Well, now that Dan 3.0 has officially launched I guess we will be starting to get a feel about all of this in the coming weeks before we get use to it.
After watching the first episode of Dan 3.0, I am kind of disappointed. I mean, I guess this was just the first episode, and noone really has a feel toward it yet, so maybe my words mean nothing.
After reading up on some posts, I saw that Danielle has posted that Dan Brown no longer uploads his videos? Instead, he sends them to Revision and they upload? Who else is like, what the hell about that? I mean, I understand Dan is sponsored and gets paid by them or whatever, and they are the site that uploads his videos, and where his videos are posted and whatever. But, Dan actually no longer uploads them? Something about this whole project is sort of fishy to me.
In the first episode, Dan only addressed two tasks. The walking to another city one, and then the high five one, that didnt go so well. Dont you think dan has a little more time on his hands in a normal day, to do more then walk around downtown and highfive only 1 set of people to the 500 that was suggested?
I honestly feel that Dan should re-do that task. If he really wants us to "control him." He should at least do everything he can to attempt a task, or replace a task if one doesnt go so well?
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore Dan Brown. I'm not hating on the project and like I said, maybe it will all turn around in time. I guess we can only hope. I'm not trolling on the project, I'm not making fun of it, I'm nt putting it down in a negative way, and I honestly feel like its a great social project and it will be great for everyone to look back on in a year.
Thoughts? Leave your interesting or creative response in the comment section BEELLLLOOOOOW. (ray william johnson reference.)
Love you.

I absolutely adore Dan Brown. Oof. Never a good idea. But yeah, I'm not happy with Dan 3.0 right now, but there's 363 days left. I think we'll/he'll manage.

It was an admittedly anti-climactic opening gun to the whole thing, but I am not concerned. IMHO, it was a stupid task anyways, that doesn't accomplish anything, nor is it particularly entertaining to watch. It was one of those "Do it just because I thought of it" tasks, which I am not personally a fan of. I realize that the whole idea of the project is a democratic process, and that idea won for the day, but I still don't think that necessarily makes it a good one.
Give it a few days. It'll get better.

Dan didn't seem like he did the challenge enthusiastically. He was all like. OH THIs is weird... I don't think you understand how weird this is... Oh this is weird... Complaining like a baby every step of the way.
If he was happy and enthusiastic about the task, it might have been better...
But he failed because his attitude failed. If he really tried and failed he could have said "I gave it my all" but if he half asses something as easy as getting high fives, i feel sorry for the rest of his project...
I mean easiest thing for high 5. Explain Dan 3.0 to people, get to know them, then ask them. Strangers probably wont high 5 you, but if they know a bit about you they will... He didn't even try to meet new people... It was all like "OH they rejected me, poor me, they rejected me, boo hoo..."
Dan, it is time to man up. If your going to do it give it your all, or don't do it at all...

wow. it was the first episodes. calm down. you CANT, you just CANT judge an entire web series in ONE episode, especially not the first one.
and considering the fact that we weren't there, i don't think we should judge him. i mean, if people are insulting you right in front of you for your weirdness, i think that you're at LEAST going to let the audience know what they did.

bojl, We're not judging the entire web series, but honestly, I am pretty disappointed, He didn't even attempt to high five 500 people, he attempted to high five maybe, 10, I think that from now on we should have a punishment for when dan doesn't complete a task, besides just saying, epic failure

well, if 10 people in a row basically insult you and ignore you, you're not going to continue to go through with it, are you?
i mean, it's great to think like that anyone can do anything with a bit of effort, but that just isn't realistic. i mean, it'd take 10s of hours to get 500 high fives with that many people rejecting you.

Dan was much more upset irl than came off in the video. I talked him through a better approach after the fact on the phone. Hopefully any public stuff involving people on the street will go more smoothly in the future.

Ok, Granted, I didn't see what happened with the people that rejected him, So I can't say I know how he felt, I'm just saying it was quite an anti climactic start, I just hope it gets better as it goes on

Filming in public is always awkward... Although he could have attempted another approach. After the first 10 rejected me, I'd have started yelling "Hi-5" randomly whenever I approached someone. That may have worked (ok... maybe not. but it'd have been funner!)

That may have worked (ok... maybe not. but it'd have been funner!) This might have worked. If Dan went with his gut it might have been better. a High 5 is a high energy task! You need to be pumped to perform the High 5 correctly! It also would have been better if he had someone else filming for him....

nah, not really disappointed.
I mean if anything we are just trying to help Dan succeed on his project. If something happens its great, but if it doesn't happen, too bad.
Besides Jon, if its so easy, could you do us the favor of getting a few from people you don't know out in the street?

I gaurantee I can get more than Dan Brown! Hm... I wont be able to do it today or tomorrow. I am busy during weekdays. This weekend will be good. Your on ryan. If I get more than 2, than I get cookies! I need to plan for this now, LIKE DAN SHOULD HAVE DONE!

Not disappointed.
The high-five thing was a really, really stupid task.
I saw that there was a task that 90% of people had approved, where it would have Dan hug random people. Question is, would you want a hug from a random person on the street that you didn't know?
I personally would be more than happy if he simply vetos tasks like these.

Ever heard of the free hugs campaign? I have personally hugged random people on the street. Both in NYC and in the campus of UVM

I've heard some people say that people on the East coast are a lot more "huggy" than people in the Midwest, where Dan and I live.
