Since Dan accepted the task of watching the worst movie ever, I think we should be nice to him and let him watch the best movie ever. Go to revision3.com/dan30/task/best-movie-ever- to accept/reject it! If you like the idea...which movie should we have him watch?? Personally, I would choose The Shawshank Redemption. Your opinions?

this is not that great an idea because everyone has a different opinion on the best movie ever, whereas theres far fewer movies that people consider to be the worst movie ever

So both tasks aren't the greatest ideas, but hey, I think it's worth a thread debate about the best/worst movie. *shrug

The Mask
Really I love... well I can't say all anymore sense 23 came out, but MOST of Jim Carrey's movies. That being said The Mask is the movie that first got my into Jim Carrey.
BTW is this ironic? My grandpa who's name is Jim bought me The Mask, I live in Jamestown, and my name is James. (Jim is actually short for James.) Not making that up, all true.
Anyway back to the Mask...
Reasons I love this movie...
I really relate to Stanly Ipkiss.
I wish I had super powers that mimic cartoons.
I love the plot of the movie.
Good acting.
Cameron Diaz was freaking HOT. Unfortunately like most big Hollywood actresses she got some plastic surgery and looks fugly now.
If you've seen the more recent movie Son of the Mask and didn't like it, don't be turned away. Son of the Mask was made more child friendly than the original. The Mask had a much darker plot that involved gang/mob violence, murder, and the actual coloring was literally darker, well more realistic. Son of the Mask is full of bright colors and almost looks like a Saturday morning cartoon for preschoolers. The plot in Son of the Mask is also much more child friendly except for one scene of shadow sex. Another reason why I think Son of the Mask is targeted more to children is because there was cussing in the original movie where there wasn't in the new one and while the original focused on main characters like Stanley Ipkiss and had great side characters like Charlie and Milo the new movie focused more on a dog and a baby making it almost as if Tim Avery was a side character rather than the main hero of the movie. Seriously, the guy only wore the mast twice in the whole movie and barley did anything with it. And while the original villain, Dorian, was killed, the new villain, Loki, was... given a father son therapy session with Oden. WTF? Who defeats a villain with therapy?
The Mask and Son of the Mask are total opposites of each other. Basically, how much you hate Son of the Mask will be how much you love The Mask. And if you didn't hate Son of the Mask, you'll just love The Mask that much more.
The Mask is a movie that I actually love more as an adult than as a child because I can understand all of the adult humor now.
Oh and lets not forget music scores. Personally even though some of the music in the original is actually older than the movie itself I like the original score better than the new movie. They really don't even feel like the same movie, it's weird as hell. Ben Stein is the only cast member to appear in both movies. Luckily he's also the only character to appear in both movies sense it's an entirely new cast of characters not related to the old movie. But they kind of based his character off the cartoon rather than movie sense he seemed to not believe that magic exist even when it was used on him.
In the original movie he was never a witness to any magical things.
In the cartoon series he actually got to wear the mask for an episode and went around town diagnosing everyone with Ipkiss syndrome claiming they were under mass delusions caught from Stanley Ipkiss and apparently had no idea he had powers but was some how still able to use them.
And in Son of the Mask, he had his face magically ripped off and put on display in place of a fake mask after he made Loki mad which is pretty much the best part of the movie and happens within the first 5 or 10 min. then Loki is never that awesome for the rest of the movie, in fact his character arch, if you can call it that, seems to be to get dumber as the movie progresses.

INCEPTION
Haha I know we're probably looking for movies that Dan can rent, but if it's still in theaters, he could go see it. It's a really great, well-made film that makes you think for a long time after it is over. I highly recommend it.
