I'll buy your albums when theres more then just 1 or 2 decent songs on them, but if you have a $20 album with an hours worth of terrible music and 3.5 minutes of decent material, im not gonna shell out your full asking price and since my only other option is itunes where its even more over priced, of course im probably gonna snag it for free

I do, but only because I would rather spend money on physical things...

I kinda wander why, if downloading off the internet is illegal, then why was the I-Pod invented. Seriously though FREE downloads are illegal but the OP kind of broaden the topic to just downloading off the internet which some internet downloads are actually legal and you still have to pay for them. It just depends on weather or not you're downloading from an official source or not. Some web sites may even be set up to charge you money for downloads and you get the music but if it's not an official source there's no telling where the money you paid actually went to. So basically people could be pirating music and not even know it.

Some of you guys are wimps (you won't get in trouble with the law. Seriously, there's no way they could stop EVERYONE, and even if they try, they won't get to you in your life time :/)
Some of you assume I have money (Seriously, I'm 14. I done have any amount of currency what so ever. How would I get the physical copy? I would if I could but I can't)
I gots no money and I don't fear getting in trouble. I pirate.

I have enough money. I'm 14. Ask for allowence. And I'm not afraid of getting caught.. that's just stupid. It's just a sense of..I just don't like doing it.

I done have any amount of currency what so ever. How would I get the physical copy? I would if I could but I can't) I gots no money and I don't fear getting in trouble. I pirate. So many problems with this where to start. First of all the only thing you said right is that they can't possibly stop everyone but everything else you said is wrong. You can and will in fact get in trouble. And they will get to you in your life time. No one assumes you have money but we know you can get money. Either you can have your parents buy the music for you or you can get a job. You're 14, you can find part time work. Heck I had my first job when I was a little younger than you are! It actually started as volunteer work at my school but then they started paying me for it. Not much mind you because I was only working on my lunch hour during school but it was enough to cover the costs of attending that school so my dad didn't have to pay them anymore. I think the only cost was just lunch but I'm not sure if my dad had other bills from the school or not. It's pretty obvious you don't fear getting in trouble sense you just made the mistake of ratting on yourself. You do realize this is a public forum right? That means nothing you say on here is private. That means writing that post is pretty similar to robbing a store and intentionally showing your face on the security camera. And before you say no one can track your post even if they saw it, that's not true either. Your IP address can be tracked and the authorities can use that to find you location. There's a chance you're safe so long as no one viewing this topic is anyone important who can track and arrest you or no one cares enough to report you.

Oh yeah... I forgot to add... You'll probably be let off with a warning because you're 14. I think the owners of the music have to press charges/sue in order to really make any difference and I don't think anyone would sue a 14 year old for downloading music.

You have to be 15 for a workers permit. My parents are unemployed. Money is not something I have handed to me on a silver platter.
Also, I go by the logic of "Who cares enough to stop you?". Seriously, who cares enough to check my IP address and report me. Even so, would the people you report me to care enough to enforce it? I doubt it.

Zang, if you use torrent then it's real easy for them to track your ip adress. I was once downloading modern warfare 2 when I got an email from a some kind of company representing Activision saying that if I do not stop sharing they would pursue legal action. Then they had my ip address, name and real address in the email. Even if torrents is the most vulnerable right now they have other measures for other kinds of downloading. Two guys at my jr.college were fined 8.000.000 krona's (70.000 dollars) each for copyright infringement, that was mostly music, they were 17 and 18 years old at the time.
I wont lecture you on downloading, hell I still do every once in a while but don't think they won't pursue the matter if they find you and they can find you. Of course you might just get of with a warning like me or maybe your parents will have to pay tens of thousands of dollars. It's a risk pirating on the interwebs.

Nobody cares at all -- in North America at least. Stop being so paranoid, guys.
If you live in certain European countries, however, the government is putting some pretty stupid laws into place and cracking down on them.

You have to be 15 for a workers permit. Do you live outside the U.S. or did they change the age in the last few years? I've worked with kids as young as 11 at the theater. And I don't just mean actors. Plus even the actors have to help strike the set unless they're equity. And like I said before my first job was when I was about 12 or 13. The only thing is that with child labor laws, you can get a job, but they can't make you work over a certain number of hours. Like adults have to work 8 hours and can get overtime pay after 8 hours. Kids can't be made to work overtime at all.
