Dan 3.0 has several flaws that make it to stressful and need to be fixed. Mainly, is too unstructured to be manageable. The decision engine should not be constantly accepting new ideas. 700+ Pages is way too much too look through. They need to break the system in monthly or quarterly planning segments. There should be a idea submission period (one or two days), a period for admins to sort the ideas by type of task and consolidate duplicate tasks, then a voting period with all of the tasks sorted into groups such as quick/one day goals, low, medium & high complexity goals. Then they can say for the current submission period the top X number of each type of goal will be accepted. This will allow Dan to plan out when he can film and edit and set up tasks. Then a few weeks before the current segment ends start the idea process all over again. The project has life, it just needs a slight overhaul.

I'm fairly sure Dan stopped it for now because of a family'life problem, not because of stress. He is very stressed though.
DON'T QUOTE ME ON THIS! I just feel like this isn't stress. He would have made an announcement video if he was taking a stress-related break.

No, don't cancel it. Yes, it has some flaws that have been pointed out here, but if done right it won't be that stressful. What it needs is more planning and less rush. A way to go about doing that would be to make it weekly (or daily-ish, 3 or so times a week) and longer, but also better structured. Could be a good step to make it less stressful and better-quality.
We love you Dan, we can't wait to see you back on the screen no matter what happens.

I feel as if Dan needs to go back to his old videos. Dan 2.0. Twitter Tuesdays, Wall Wednesdays. Random videos from the moderator module. yeah, that sounds good.

I'm against the idea of Dan 3.0 being scrapped or at least the idea he should be pressured into doing so by a few fans who have panicked at the first bump in the road. People's lives are turbulent in general so it probably wont be the last time that the project does gets interrupted. He is clearly going something very personal and just because he gives us a small window into his life doesn't mean we are entitled to judge or make assumptions about his life or that we should be given unlimited access to it. This isn't big brother he's not parading around in front camera and exposing every part of his life to us and that never was his intention, Dan 3.0 is a documentary more about his fans and the concept of a tribe and a community more than a window into his soul.
He's been video blogging for over 3 years now and if determination was something he was lacking in then he would have given up by now. So just wait and see what he has to say for himself before trying to decide for him. I don't think he's the sort of person to give up on something because it too hard to too stressful, I'm sure that's the sort of thing that inspires him to push through.
So just be patient, if there's a problem I'm sure we'll hear about it in time. The decision to end Dan 3.0 should be his and his alone to make. That said I think he will be back, even if it takes a while and the project has to be delayed I doubt after going through all the effort to prepare this he's just going to pack it in but if he does then there must a perfectly good reason.
I do agree though the way tasks are submitted has to change. I think that number that can be submitted at within a certain time span should be limited and that they should expire if they don't receive a certain amount of attention after x amount of days from being submitted, which hopefully would mean that people on the message board will have to put more effort in to promoting their ideas here as opposed to just random people posting ideas on a whim.

Dan will be known as a failure if he just ends Dan 3.0

Dan will be known as a failure if he just ends Dan 3.0 perhaps thats why he is so depressed? He may have jumped into this to quickly and he dosent want to let everyone down. He's really putting to much upon himself right now. Every single task requested makes his stress level go higher and higher. He said in the first week that we would settle in well to d3p0 but we never really did.

Here's my speculation about what's going on with Dan. These are only guesses.
- He's depressed. - He doesn't want to be away from Danielle. - Dan 3.0 was over-hyped, and it's not living up to his expectations. - His finances are not where he wants them to be at this point. - His brother left for college, he's moving back into his mom's home, and this feels like a step backward while his brother is moving forward. - He just generally doesn't know what he wants out of life, and has no clear direction.
Okay, Dan, if you're reading this, a simple Yes or No would do wonders to explain your absence to your loyal fans. If any of these are not true, you can quote this and remove them. You can always elaborate later.

I'm surprised he hasn't even taken the time to make a single post, tweet, or even a 10 second video just to say "Hey, gonna take a week off" or anything.

Hey, don't barf at me, I agree with the barf. Personally, I think Dan needs to toughen up and get back to doing what he agreed to do. I was just trying to be nice by pointing out the things that seem to be causing him trouble. Sleeping until 9am, filming videos, editing, uploading, scheduling, traveling, taking walks. These things are not hard work. He's not the first man to be apart from the woman he cares for. If he can't handle these things, he shouldn't have started Dan 3.0. He's going to have a hell of a time with the REAL world if this has caused him to have a breakdown. Dan is an adult, and so it's time to stop acting like a child. He has an opportunity here that he's throwing away. Once he signed that contract with Revision3, it became more than casually posting YouTube videos for fun. It became a job. Sometimes hobbies get ruined when they become work. This happened to me many years ago when I was only a few years older than Dan and I started my first business. Nevertheless, Dan now has a responsibility, so it's time for him to buck up, be a man, and take care of business, before he throws away this opportunity.
So, there's what I was really thinking. The first post was just more hand-holding. It's time for that to end. Barf is right. No more "poor Dan." Get on with it, man.
