I got my first guitar about 2 years ago. It was found up a family members attic and was given to me. It was heavy, awkward and impossible to tune. Over the past two years I've been learning chords and practicing changing chords as quickly as possible, and have learned a few nursery rhymes and such that only use one string. You wouldn't believe how proud I was when I learned in the jungle played entirely on the A string. But last month I finally bought myself a gorgeous acoustic guitar and have since learned how to play a few songs. The first was Book 8 by the amazing Hank Green, and then a few really easy ones like Take me home, country roads by John Denver and the only exception by paramore. And very recently I've learned the intro to redemption song by Bob Marley and the intro to the big sleep by streetlight manifesto. I would love it if any of you could suggest songs, or even bits of songs that I could learn easily but still sound amazingly amazing. And if you have recently started playing, or just trying t improve your playing I'd love to hear how it's going, and what it is that you're doing. I'd love for us to help each other to become the best guitarists that we can be, and to be able to, in a few years, show the next generation out kick ass skills!

I've had in the back of my mind for a while now the thought that picking up the bass guitar would be kinda cool. The only thing with that is, unlike a standard guitar, it really calls for someone else that you can accompany. Also, I have much better things to spend my money on at the moment. >.>

The first song I learned, was Peaceful easy feeling, look tabs from Google or something. IF you want something more advanced but still pretty easy, I'd recommend The House of the Rising Sun cover by Animals.
E: Oh btw, Wonderwall is pretty easy, look for different version.

Thanks, peaceful easy feeling looks really easy to play and memorise, and it's an awesome song, I've now got the tabs bookmarked . I saw the animals play in '08. I really loved them but have never thought to play any of their songs, and most of them look quite easy. As for wonderwall, I really can't stand the song. I don't really know why, it's just one of those songs I guess...

Yeah, Wonderwall is also pretty much overused. But what kind of guitar do you have?
E: I mean, what brand is it and which model? My acoustic is Yamahs F310, I guess. My electric is Epiphones Explorer, which is awesome to play, too.

I've got a Encore W255BL Blueburst. I replaced the brass strings with steel ones, and that made it sound a million times better.

I've been playing for 3 years, my fisrt guitar was a 3/4 cheap acoustic but it sounds absoloutely georgeous. I own a hagstrom F200P as of about 2 years ago - It's awesome to play the fist song I ever learned to play was Plug In Baby by Muse. An it took me forever on my acoustic as a beginner and everyone was telling me to stop trying to learn it but i did anyway. I have a Zoom effect pedal and my dad's 30 year old amp which amazingly still worked after an eternity in the attic! I know what you mean about Wonderwall i've literally met countless people who say that that was the first song they learnt to play - plus you need a capo to play it properly. Now im learning to play Mind Eraser No Chaser by Them Crooked Vultures - it's hard

www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeEWOynTtoYThis is an easy song to learn but it progresses you quite a bit in terms of technical skills. And it's impressive. Just make sure to pay attention to the direction he's strumming and copy that.
