EXAMPLE 1: setup: 15p (3 wolves.) roles:(WOLF) Alpha Wolf, 2 wolflings. (TOWN) Wolf Hunter, Elder, 10 tribesmen. --setup-- you PM the wolfs that they are wolflings, you also tell them howmany wolves there are, what role they have, and who those roles are, something like: You are the Alpha Wolf, your wolflings are wolfling1 and wolfling2, you may discuss at night who of you will transform, and who will die. only YOU can submit the kill to me. --Day1-- chaos and random voting costs the life of a tribesman. (what?) --Night1-- the Hunter PMs you something like: "N1: Inspect player9" the wolves can now start discussing on their kill, the wolflings cannot submit the kill, and hence do not transform... after a long discussion the Alpha wolf (and only he!) sends in who dies, and who will be the wolf killing him/her. (format: N1: Wolfling1 kills player14). --end phase of night1-- the Hunter now gets his result on the inspection: "player9 did NOT transform into a wolf tonight." --day2-- alive: (WOLF) Alpha Wolf, 2 wolflings. (TOWN) Wolf Hunter, Elder, 8 tribesmen. In the topic you announce that, sadly, player14 has been killed. just as you normally would, the hunter may or may not now claim his role and his findings... let's say he does. the town believes him, and now have 1 confirmed town-sided player. namely the hunter, as awesome as they are, they find the Alpha Wolf and shoot him. --night 2 preperation-- a random wolfling now gets the PM: "You find scriblings in your tent, it's written in the lunar langauge... you show it to your fellow wolfling and he agrees: Alpha wanted you to be the alpha wolf when he died!" (game continues, town wins eventually.('cause we all love good endings)) EXAMPLE 2: setup: 10p (3 wolves.) roles:(WOLF) 2 wolfs, 1 wolf (confused). (TOWN)Doctor, Elder, 5 tribesmen. --start-- now, you might decide you want to start at night, it gives a little bit of balance towards the wolves, but also gives the town more information on day1. let's make this a nightstart. --N1-- the doctor sends in "N1: I protect player5" the wolves debate, and they decide that the confused wolf (they do NOT know that he is confused!!) kills the doctor (they also don't know it's the doctor) --N1 resolving.-- using some sort of random method (pieces of paper in a box, random number generator, w/e.) you pick a NEW target for the kill... in this case, your number generator spits out 5. player5 dies. or... wait, the doctor protects player5! --Day 1-- You post that Day 1 starts, and nobody died. voting opens as normal... town now obviously know that they have a doctor, and the wolves -think- that, whoever they tried to kill, is not the doctor, because the doctor can't protect himself. random voting kills the elder (there will not be a new elder, that greatly unbalances the game town-favour.) and Night2 starts --N2-- the werewolves, now knowing that the doctor is dead, decide to kill player5 again, due to his habit of surviving. they let the confused wolf kill again. --N2 resolve-- random number generator says 10. player10 is a wolf! --Day2-- You post that player10 died. surprisingly, he turns out to be a wolf! the town thinks about who would kill who if they were the wolf, but then realize that there must be a confused wolf, due to the stupidity of killing your own team, and shoot a tribesman who refuses to believe that. (let's just say town in this case was too busy sorting out minor details, and the wolves get the better of them, nice balance.) some tips for the players: - IF you find out you have a doctor and a hunter, let the hunter identify himself, this way the doctor can keep him/her alive as long as possible... this is VERY usefull information, as the hunter only gets to know the wolf who actually transformed!
- Being the alpha wolf does not mean you just send in a kill, because by default you'll do the job yourself... it's much more efficient to have a wolfling do it, in case there is a hunter watching you.
- There might -or might not- be more than 1 hunter/doctor/confused wolf, be wary of this when hunting for the power roles, (the 2 doctors could be protecting eachother, or the hunters confirming eachother being the hunter, yes, they get to see that. (something along the lines of: this person was not in his tent tonight, but he didn't transform into a wolf either.) this could point out that it's either a doctor (being in somebody else his tent) or another hunter (hunting his target))
IfEweWantBlood, if you're still confused and you want me to help you with the night action resolving/setting up a balanced setup, i'll be happy to help out... PM me.

Hi peoples although I am not part of this game I would like state that I think that all of the special roles have to keep their identity secret especially the hunter letting the doc know who the hunter is will make the wolves very underpowered until the doc is dead which could be very hard to tell if he or she is always protecting the hunter and once the doc is dead the wolves will know exactly who to kill next and while the hunter is alive it makes him the one constant factor of someone you can always trust which should not be in the game.

The amusing thing is that anyone could lie about being the hunter. Wolves could lie in the hopes of misdirecting attention (from themselves, and possibly to a target that is on to them), non-wolves might still try in the hopes of the doctor protecting them when they aren't really the hunter.

True however the point of this game is to kill the werewolves not find the hunter which it could easily turn into. At least that is what I think however I was a werewolf twice so I may be making it a little harder for the villagers unintentionally but I do not think that any self respecting villager would lie about being the hunter.

claiming roles is a very fun thing to do... as it creates an atmosphere of "Who's lying?" "Are you REALLY the doctor?" "If you indeed are the hunter, inspect [insert name here] tonight, i'm sure (s)he's a wolf!"etc. etc... much fun, much fun indeed. If there's alot of sign-ups, i might be starting 4.5 simultaneously?
