Vimeo is good but I'm gonna have to go with YouTube.

Vimeo is only good if you wish to share your short film with a bunch of people who are also aspiring filmmakers. Using Vimeo for much else isn't all too necessary.
Youtube is good for pretty much everything. Which is good. Especially if you want to go watch...pretty much everything.

Vimeo is great for hosting high quality video. Even YouTube's HD is a little lacking. However, there's no community in Vimeo. I go to art school and a bunch of my film major friends have accounts of Vimeo just because it's simple and very high quality.
Vimeo is like the cold, sleek, sophisticated one. Where YouTube is the fun, down to earth one.
Over all? YOUTUBE! <33

Youtube has more crap, but has great vlogs. Vimeo has much better quality, no crap videos, but it's mostly for those people interested in art/ideas/design.
I like both. but that's just me. I love vimeo. But youtube is pretty good too if you know who to follow.
I guess I'll be the only person who like both (or even vimeo at all I guess?)

To put it simply (for those who are old enough to have enjoyed Family Matters), YouTube is like Steve Urkel: And Vimeo is like Stefan Urquelle: They're really the same person with incredible genius, but like Steve, YouTube is loud, obnoxious, and needy while Vimeo, like Stefan, is cool, collected, and self-reliant. But I've always liked Steve -- er, um, YouTube -- better.

I almost completely disagree with you, vimeo is amazing and it does have community, just check out the groups or the forums. Vimeo is the film makers youtube, on youtube you can do anything including break copyright law but on vimeo its heavily discouraged, in fact I'm fairly certain the videos go through a submission proccess (or atleast they did). I love youtube because you kind find anything you want but the problem with youtube is your also going to find a lot of stuff you dont want. Vimeo theres a good chance most of the stuff will be well shot. On youtube funny cat videos are A ok on vimeo not so much. I think they both have their purposes, in all honesty it sucks being a film maker on youtube, I mean sure your films might get seen but your probably not going to get advice on how to improve it and its not likely it'll be seen by people with technical knowledge. I like both for different reasons. I prefer to be on YouTube, because of the wonderful community, but Vimeo is good because it has a cleaner look to it, and it's good if you want to escape all of the haters, trollers, and spammers. ^_^

Can I suggest this is moved to the "Polls" section? Of course, if we have a disagreement then we can take a poll to decide if this is to be put in the poll section.

I enjoy both, due to the fact that their users are different. Vimeo is more user friendly and Youtube is more popular and has more content.

Vimeo has quality more 'arty' videos, and youtube is just entertaining and has lots of stuff, but because of that its confusing, and cluttered, and its hard to separate the junk from the gold. I love both
