I just don't see the point in switching to a new keyboard setting. I'm not opposed to change, but I'm opposed to pointless change. I type plenty fast on a QWERTY. =P

also - would Dvorak mess up WASD?
I bet it would! My fingers would probably have to be all over the place! [/silly statement]

Nope, many games don't get messed up because they use the keyboard directly regardless of the layout, but all the other ones let you remap the keys, which doesn't take more than 10 seconds.

hence why I said "[/silly argument]"
Also - technically I use the Canadian Multilingual Standard. Much different then QWERTY in terms of symbol placement.

90-100wpm w/ QWERTY. Why switch and spend 2 weeks typing at 3 wpm so I can possibly type at 90-110wpm?
I'll stick with QWERTY Personally. My friend however swears by DVORAK now, he always typed slowly with QWERTY, but now his typing speed is up to about 80-90 wpm. It really is a personal preference.

I'd be more willing to switch if I had a physical Dvorak keyboard - after all, I, like a lot of people, learned to type via "hunt and peck"
It also took me, like, 4 years to learn how to touch type.

I don't know how to type like how you're "supposed" to (like where you align your fingers with certain keys.) I just kind of know where the keys are, and so I don't need to look, it's pretty cool. I think today I will start trying out Dvorak.

I want all keyboards to have keys in a perfect rectangle and go "ABCDEFG".
[/OCD]
Seriously, the only reason I heard QWERTY was invented was to slow down the typing because the inventor of the typewriter couldn't make it so it went fast. So he decided to scramble it. I dunno if that is true.

It wasn't to slow typing itself, but to prevent collisions in the mechanisms when keys are adjacent to each other. The mechanism got stuck and you had to unjam it, so touch typing was annoying.
QWERTY is a keyboard for the typewriter. Dvorak is a keyboard for the typist.
