You know on some forums you have the "Who sent you" field?
If we had one here, there would be much more incentive for people to invite friends. It would turn it into a sort of game. Especially if we have a public leaderboard, and you get awards when you reach certain milestones etc.
What do you think?

I don't want to gamify SPOTM.. We've discussed this. Maybe a little, but not too much..

I don't want to gamify SPOTM.. We've discussed this. Maybe a little, but not too much.. I'm not talking about turning SPOTM into an RPG, I'm talking about adding a few features that will motivate people to get things done. There's no argument in the fact that turning tasks into games makes people more motivated to do them. Just look at the star-chart they make for parents to teach kids. Or the loyalty schemes they use at coffee places. We'd be stupid to dismiss the potential. Anyway, this topic is about the Reference system that is used in most forums to help keep a steady increase of members, not gamification as a whole subject.

I'll look into adding a "Referred by:" field to user profiles. Implementing an actual referral leaderboard is tougher, but I'll also start looking into that.
