Can you please re-instate the sub forum the project section? It was already being used.

Wow. I feel douchetarded. HOWEVER I'm still game. I'm not gonna get my panties in a bunch because I got excited over something Dan in particular posted - Ofcourse I did. And why shouldn't we? But alas, life goes on. So...I'm gonna go ahead and make some posters and banners anyways. DEAL WITH IT!

That's the spirit! I'm a fan of Dan's, but I think this proves that the dependency is damaging. If we can push through this and actually complete this project then we can prove to ourselves that we really CAN do it on our own. There's nothing to be ashamed of, Newschooled, your enthusiasm was inspiring.

What we needed was a fake Dan to start it. Let's keep the ball rollin'!

I think it should be noted that fake Dan accomplished something that real Dan never did, even if it was for a short time. He actually got a big project going. The biggest project Dan ever got going was Dan 3.0, after that basically nothing unless you count triads which, by all accounts, failed. I like Dan, and I like Dan 3.0, but seriously, Dan, you blew this. I mean so what if the OP was fake, who cares? So you do what you have to do, keep it under wraps, and continue the project on your own. You could just as easily have kept the ball rolling on this one. And while it still is rolling thanks to Newschooled and SwimFellow, it's not the same. i don't feel as fired up.

Hm.
Firstly: For chrissakes, stop fighting with each other. Whether we're inactive or not, we're all to blame for sitting on our asses in one way or another. This whole fake Dan thing proves that, I mean we needed some sort of false prophet to get excited and consider doing some work. We're in this together, so lets all stop being douches to each other. Kay? Kay.
Continuing from my last point, the only people we can rely on is each other. The very very LAST person we should rely in is Dan-Mufuggin-Brown. I mean look at what he just friggin did. Sure, it was wrong for someone to hack his account, I have no problem admitting that, but after seeing the inspiration and the motivation that it caused, wouldn't it have made more sense just to make a short statement saying "This isn't me, but keep on with the project, it's a good idea", and then let us continue with it? I mean if he had time to read and delete the post, surely he'd have time to edit it with one sentence. I mean, wouldn't any good leader forfeit a minor principal of privacy (I mean their account being hacked) in return for the happiness of dozens of their former people? Yeah, I think they would. Dan Brown wouldn't, apparently. I agree with what Adrian said, he should help or officially leave, it seems like the right and logical thing to do, instead of letting us hang on in hopes he'll come back and fix everything. But I don't think he's going to do it. We've been waiting for him to do something for far too long. And as a result, nothing's happening. I'm so sick of it. We need to fix this place ourselves.
Okay, I'm gonna stop badmouthing Dan now. Let's just get on with the project anyway, like we're already doing. Maybe if someone could make a post paraphrasing what fake Dan said, since some people didn't get a chance to read it? I'm not entirely sure about the details of the project yet =\

Dan did nothing
AS FAR AS I KNOW
Rob told Dan and Dan told Rob to shut everything down, which is what I think happened since Rob made a post about locking the thread. Also it's a shame it wasn't moved to the deleted section (noticed before demotion)

Oh great, now Zang got demoted. Brilliant. So, what happens to the normal members when they say their opinion without holding back? Will we get banned or something? Pf, I don't care. I am going to work on my first projects.

Unfairbear makes a very good point. This could have been handled very differently. Dan could just have picked up where the impersonator left off. I'm actually inclined to take the impersonator's side on this one. I'm not usually one to condone such activity, but in this case I say that this was the best thing to ever happen to SPOTM.

Hmmm okay, that changes things slightly but my point mostly still stands. If Rob told him what happened he could have asked him to just say "that's not Dan, but keep going".
I can't believe he didn't even read it..... That's so depressing.

Josh, insulting everyone isn't going to fix anything. From what I've seen, a lot of people do want to continue with the project regardless of whether or Dan is leading it, so I don't think it's fair of you to say that everyone is going to abandon the project now.

Okay, seriously?
Somebody took the initiative to impersonate the guy we seem to rely on (and don't bullshit me and say otherwise - if we weren't so heavilly reliant on him, we'd have revived ourselves) in order to get us motivated and working.
Then the admins catch wind of the imposter, and shut the whole thing down. We could have used the initiative to pull ourselves back onto our feet - and they nip it in the bud as if they wanted SPOTM to die.
Not that I'm accusing them of it. That would be retarded.
And then Zang calls the admins out on this - and they respond by demoting him.
What. The. FUCK. is. this. GARBAGE!?
Honestly - you should have just left it alone - like Jean said. Or are you going to demote her too?
*heavy, rage-filled breathing* GRAH! I'm going to go club people until I'm less angry about this.

No offense to Zang by going into this - But he flat out called us stupid. I don't know every in and out of the situation, but Mods and Admins of all people shouldn't be going around insulting members. Period.
If you worked in a store, and walked around insulting customers to their faces, you would be fired so fast it would make your head spin. Same context applies to staff on SPOTM.
He was not banned because he 'stated his opinion' - Don't be silly. There are a million ways he could have expressed the same opinion objectively and with tact.

Ok. You know what_ Fuck this. I'm leaving SPOTM. I just don't give a fuck anymore. As far as I care, the people who run this forum can let it die. Oh, and for the people who don't know about it, the impersonator actually told the admins that he had hacked Dan's account. If he hadn't done this the project would, at least for a while, still be a go. The only reason he told the truth to the admins was because he didn't want them to shut it down after realizing that it wasn't really Dan. I hope you people have fun with your 20 regular users.

I feel as if we're being treated like children....I agree with Jean. I think Rob should have told us the truth about Dan's account being hacked and all...but he should have encouraged us to keep the project going. But instead he sort of..urm..put us down. Like he basically said "Okay children settle down". Or that's how it felt, anyway. We aren't stupid. We have the potential to pull off this project. I mean, I feel motivated. I think what the hacker did was kinda cool...it seems like they actually wanted to help SPOTM. To get some action going. But..what do I know? Right?

It occurs to me that it wasn't the admins' decision to delete the post. Rob deleted it because Dan told him to (I still blame this all on Dan btw). But yeah, I think some tact would have been appreciated in ALL cases.
