UnfairBear: I started a Team for this HERE. Go there and help, guys! =DI also think that we should be putting more of a spotlight on the projects, creative corner and debate forums. I know that's being done somewhat ion the landing page but the problem with that is that not everybody sees the landing page. Like, I never look at it, i just go straight to pogotribe.proboards.com. Looking at a whole list of forums can be daunting, even for me sometimes and it's hard to find threads that you're interested in. Those three forums I mentioned are the ones with most participation in them (maybe apart from the role playing games forum) and if we kind of guide people towards them a bit, it might be easier to get people to participate in the community. My suggestion is instead of, or as well as the landing page, we change the layout of the forums slightly so that theres a menu bar sort of thing along the left side. There'd be a section for announcements, then ones for featured projects, debates and creative threads, and maybe a section for other featured threads too. We could put changes to the admin log there as well, and other important information. That way we can see what's going on in the forums while were actually on the forums. Yeah. Shazam.

Agreed.
My SPOTM bookmark actually takes me to the "active threads" section, so I don't even look at the front page.

yeah, that's the point. I think we need the go ahead from the admins and radicallyblue for this one. and some others saying whether or not they think its a good idea =P

Yeah, I also think the forum threads are inflated with the old threads. If you don't have a link to a thread, it's pretty annoying to look for it through the 50 recent posts, your posts, etc. If a new member comes they will see all of that and get confused.

. If a new member comes they will see all of that and get confused. Me! It confused me slightly when I first joined. I wasn't sure which threads were active and which were dead...but then of course I looked at the date of the last post.

I like this idea.
We should also put the Inbox as a separate button because I never know when I have PMs now.

I have no idea if this is possible to be implemented with ProBoards. That's in the hands of radicallyBlue. Personally and honestly, though, I think it'd be rather cluttered. I like this idea. We should also put the Inbox as a separate button because I never know when I have PMs now. Go here: pogotribe.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=pmprefsThen:

I moved the Inbox into that drop-down because it looked strangely cluttered if I didn't. The way it was before didn't properly mesh with our new layout.
If someone can design a better way to bring it out, I guess that could be okay? Or more links to put under "Account" and we have a new button saying "Inbox" with a drop-down?

Well we can see what people can come up with in terms of design and then work from there?
I'm pretty sure you can do it if you just put the right code in. I know you could do it on ezboards. There weren't options to put one in, it was just a matter of changing the header/footer code yokeys. I don't see why it wouldnt work. I can probably find some old code that we could work off of. But yeah, we can start with the design either way.

You should link to this ezboards forum where it's been done. I'm just having trouble picturing it being non-cluttered.
You know, proboards has a "news fader" that can be put in at the top. It'd have to be properly skinned and such, but could that work? Just check out some other ProBoards forums to see it in action.

Gonna look for those but the ones I used were quite cluttered. That wasn't due to the sidebar, imo, it was just the way it was designed. I think clutteredness can be avoided. ....Okay so I couldn't find any of my old forums cuz that was about 7 years ago and they've changed company since then, but I found some with sidebars anyway. Some of them are a little cluttered but I'm confident we can make it so it doesnt look cluttered. I think we should just see where we get with our ideas. rpgrealm60839.yuku.com/rpg38067.yuku.com/blacksunrising.yuku.com/darksecretsmwp.yuku.com/

I REALLY like this one: rpgrealm60839.yuku.com/I see how you mean now. If we either shrink the forum width or shift it to one side, it'd work fine. How to USE it is still up for discussion.
