I got ANOTHER IDEA. I'm on a friggin roll today. I was thinking about the Noble Cause and how to kind of, bring us all together like we used to be and that kinda stuff. I was thinking, how do other forums do it? How do they remain a community? How do they get new members? The answer: Because they have something in common. We used to have something in common. Most of us joined because we liked Dan Brown and/or his ideas. Most of you know my standpoint on the Dan situation, but that aside, if we assume that Dan's not coming back, then we no longer have him in common. So basically that makes this place sort of... purposeless. So how do we remedy this? Well, I'm pretty sure most of us who like/(d) Dan's videos didn't like them just because we liked him as a person (not that he's not a good person, but we don't really know him as a person just through the videos). We liked them for other reasons. And that's what we used to have in common. But there's no reason we can't still have those things in common without having to have Dan in common. So I ask you, in the interests of having some sort of reason for this forum: Why do/did you like Dan Brown?

^genius. First of all, I like Dan because HE'S SO HAWT (lol) No, seriously: - I learned to solve the rubik's cube thanks to him
- He turned my attention to topics I didn't care about. (e.g. the education system)
- He encouraged free thought (even if he didn't respect other points of view sometimes)

I get what you mean. Any forum has a reason why the majority of the people join. SPOTM doesn't really have a reason anymore. Also, remember, I joined for teh lulz, not really Dan. I didn't really like Dan at the time.

I liked his Dan2.0 vlogs...I found them very intelligent, well thought out and he always had good points...Except the "I'm dropping out of school" one. But I guess you can't keep people agreeing with you forever.

First off I liked Dan because he was highly opinionated and very good at getting people over to his way of thinking, and I have been HEAVILY influenced in the way I think by his videos.
Secondly, he taught me how to solve a Rubik's cube.
Then I kinda got bored of his D2.0 videos, I found them a bit pretentious and they kinda annoyed me for some reason.
Then I realized he was getting annoying because I was exposing myself to his videos, his pogotoks, and his live shows... and you know... too much of anything is never a good thing...
Then D3P0 started and I watched it from the start. I liked the project a lot, and it did get off to a rocky start, the episodes were a bit boring to begin with, but then they got better and I enjoyed them more.
I respect Dan very highly as a human being, I share a lot of his values, and I think he's intellegent, and he's a person who's consistently trying to better himself. The one thing we've all gotta remember is that Dan is human. He's not a box on our screen.
But yeah. The end.

(^ Dmn it! Funny post caught me by surprise in the middle of reading only serious topics xD)
He first got my attention because of the Rubik's Cube thing, and then I remember I checked out some of his videos and I just subscribed. I probably liked him because I liked the way he thought, he could also be funny, and he turned my attention to topics I didn't care enough about or informed me of topics I didn't really know.

I can't remember how I discovered Dan...probably saw him somewhere in the Related Videos section. I thought he was super cute and he's very smart. He kinda took really big topics and broke them down so that I could really understand. He shares alot of the same values as me and he seems to be a very genuine person. Buht Dan 3.0 bored the SHIRT out of me. I haven't unsubscribed, but I never watch any of his videos anymore. And I don't like his hair cut.

<_< I joined because of Danielle
And also, because I knew that with Dan 3.0, and his whole diet thing, a bunch of people would try to make him go vegan for the duration of the project (which would be against the Dan 3.0 task rules because going back to meat after a year without a lot of protein is NOT HEALTHY)
But mostly because of Danielle. I'd be fine if Dan never came back - but if Dannerzz came back - I'd be thrilled

He actually connected to his audiences and started discussions. Oh and his videos were fun, he listened to what the audience had to say, and so on and so on. Basically his videos had interesting things I've never seen on youtube before.

I liked dan because he had ideas that were almost revolutionary. I also liked him because somehow, an ordinary guy from nebraska was able to become on of the most famous youtubers on the net. If only if only, I sigh.
