I'm trying to hatch up a plan to get SPOTM working in the long run. The idea is to learn from our mistakes, and learn from what we do. Initial Action -Overview- Several steps will be taken in order to give the forum some sense of direction and structure. -We need data- The response and participation given to these goals are crucial for the understanding of our tribe. For this reason, careful conservation of the records of these events is necessary.
Census The first goal of the phoenix initiative is to complete a census detailing the capabilities and condition of SPOTM’s members. This census will be used to plan tribe wide projects and events. Moreover, it will give data regarding the state of the tribe. The Penny Jar The second goal is to install the first tribe wide project, The Penny Jar. This is a hidden extension of the census. This low commitment, easy to maintain project will be the first real accomplishment of the initiative. Not only will gauge the participation and enthusiasm of members in charity affairs, but it will also help a charity thrive. The decision-making aspect of the project will provide insight into the tribe’s preferred charities and priorities.
Values The third goal is to re-state our values taking into account the events of the past. This goal will help give the forum a direction to head in. The point of this is to set up a recurring system that allows us to change according to our wants and needs. For the time being, I would really like to focus on the census and its details. If you guys are interested, we could start fleshing them out in this thread. I wont really delve into the other steps until the previous one is complete.

I loved the census idea.
We need to define the required questions.

Yea, that's what I wanted to do with you guys.
My ideas were something along the lines of...
Age (Interests) [Type in age] Location (Possible gatherings) [Write location] Ability to donate money online (For tentative projects) [Yes/No] How much responsibility can you handle? (For positions that require commitment) [Scale from 1 to 10] Time available (Hours a week, a real underestimate) [Type in hours a week] "Describe your involvement in SPOTM briefly (Projects, notable threads, etc)" Skills (proficiency in a scale) [Scale from 1 to 10]
And possibly more stuff...

Also, Nancy and I were thinking of making a video once the questions were formalized. This will catch people's attention.
I love working with numbers and data... I would really enjoy making sense of all these numbers.

I was thinking of that, but I wasn't sure if I should have included it. I'll edit the post. Also, we need to discuss the phrasing and answer methods.

How should this be employed? Anonymously, through PM, an announcement and link, etc?

A google form.
They're super easy to set up and you get a nice spreadsheet with the results. :]

Does everyone think the questions and method are correct? I'm starting to write the form in a shot amount of time (very specific... lol).

Ya and skills personally seems kind of generic we need something more defined.

Like...? Questions for the sake of questions isn't a great idea. Perhaps something along the line of interests could be a good addition?

Right. DOUBLE POST HAHAHAHAHAAAAWWW.
Anyway.
I likey this idea. What you're going to do with the data seems a bit vague but.. I suppose it'll take more form when you actually have it.
What will you do to keep it updated? Like if people go inactive? Since then the data wouldn't reflect the true state of the tribe.
Carrying on from that point, I think you should have 2 more questions: How long have you been on the moon? How long have you been on the moon since you last became active? Give a short history of your activity and/or inactivity on the moon since you joined.
That way you can see who's likely to drop of things. I mean you dont want someone going "I have loads of time and loads of skills and loads of dedication and I can run this whole big project!" and then disappearing again for ages. It might sound a bit harsh, but it could be a good way of preventing project failure.
Anyway, if you get the census finalised, cut and dried as much as possible I'm sure we can make an announcement or a mass PM or something. Keep up the good work =)

Preemptive combo-breaker. Stop ^that before the entire thread becomes ^that. Hahaha!
I have nothing to add currently, as I was already discussing this with Draemora over Skype about the census. Carry on! =)
