---------------------------------- The first camera has been printed! www.travellingcameraclub.com/photogo rate, comment and share! dont know how to? dont worry I wrote a guide www.travellingcameraclub.com/page/voting-huhthanks everyone for the hard work! ----------------------------------------- Thanks Dan for the shout out! p.s marmite is an aquired taste and its pronounced pastle as in pastle colours. ------------------------------ Hey guys hows it going? So for the past few months I've been working on a super secret project thats finally ready to be unleashed upon the world, www.travellingcameraclub.com/The Travelling Camera Club is a community driven art project devoted to showing us a snapshot of your world, by posting disposable cameras around the world, from person to person. Once a disposable camera is full of photos it will get posted back to The Travelling Camera Club H.Q where I'll develop them, put the photos online for everyone to see! To make it even more awesome town the photos from that camera will then get put through a voting proccess (as decided by you) and the winning photo will be printed as a super high quality art prints, thats also super limited, serriously each batch will be limited to 100 prints!that will be available to purchase through the website! If your photograph is the winning one you'll recieve a copy of your print, plus a super secret package from me! Sound like fun? Want to get involved? All you have to do is email us at travellingcameraclub@googlemail.com with the following as the subject line: travelling camera club followed by your user name (preferably from using Ning – as it’s the only way to get the full experience and means we get a handle on who you are). For example SUBJECT: travelling camera club stubby43 in the body The body of the email should include the following information real nameAddressWilling to buy a cameraWilling to post internationallyAlternative ways of contacting you, e.g twitter, facebook, youtube, alternative email addresses or anything else you can think of. Then just head over to the website to take part in the fun. We’ll be in touch as soon as possible and integrate you into the project. Hope to hear from you, Phil @travelling Camera Club H.Q Note: Unfortunately we won’t be able to cover expenses but as the community and the project grows in popularity and the prints start to sell out (here’s hoping), this may be subject to change. Thanks Phil

omfg I love this Absolutely brilliant. I might participate... but err... I'm not too comfortable giving out my address, and I don't have a PO Box. I'll think about it. Either way, it'll be a lot of fun to see the results.

I wish I could do this. So much. But I'm too broke to go anywhere, and I don't really have a decent camera ._.
So good luck to all the participants, and can't wait to see what becomes of this super awesome idea.

Yeah, I definitely want to take part in this! Of course, I don't really have a lot of my own personal money to buy help chip in for a disposable camera, and like Bree, I need to think about whether I want to give out my home address. I will greatly consider this though! It sounds totally awesome!!!

AMAZING idea! I love this kind of stuff. Last year at my school, the yearbook staff did it with random students to take during their school day. It's not as amazing as around the world.
Same reason as Bree, I'm not too comfortable about giving my address away... Especially with my parents and me still only 15... like my parents would let me do something like that? I dont know.... And when we send it off won't we have to pay for bulk mail or something?

halfthecarbs dont worry you wouldnt actually need to buy a camera, I'm buying some of the cameras that will be posted, all you'd need to do is post it onto the next person.
As for the worries about giving out personal details I promise that I wont give out postal address's to anyone other than the people that need them, which would be the person directly before you on a postal route.
After the Camera is completed I'll be deleteing the address off the email account and my computer.
Buying a P.O box is an option open to you but I'm not exactly sure how much that costs, it varries from country to country but its a relatively painless process to set one up.
Given some members age, I'd suggest getting permission from your parents.

Just to prove I'm a real person (and british) heres the first camera ready to be posted, its atcually heading out now!
If you are uncomfortable I can put people at the start of a route, then I dont need your postal address (just your contact details) but I do try to give prioritory to people that live outside of north america simply because its not very efficient for it to be leaving then going back into the country all the time.
And unfortunatly the project wont work if you all want to be at the start.
Thanks for taking an interest in this everyone I appricate it

Could you give our address without giving our name or username?

I guess, I mean I dont really understand why not giving out your name would make things any better but if it makes you feel more comfortable its doable.

Can we not use a digital camera and e-mail the images to you?
That would solve alot of the "Address" problems

Well we could but that would be something completely different.
I think what makes this project so great is because its going back to analogue but with a digital twist, with film you never know exactly what your going to get, the photos turn out differently every time and once you've taken that photo thats it you cant get rid of it if you decide you dont like it.
The fact that your limited to 27 photos (well in this case 5) means you really have to think about what you want to take.
Then theres the fact that the camera has actually travelled along a route, some of these cameras started their life in the uk before travelling to canada, america, finland then back to the uk.
And I really do think it helps people connect, I didnt want to bring it up because I dont want to force anyone to do it (that makes it lame) but the first few times I ran the project people gave gifts to the person directly after them.
I mean sure they were token gifts like postcards, tourist stuff or chocolate but no one told them to do it and they did for someone who was almost a complete stranger, most of them certainly hadnt met in person.
I think that actually having it travel adds so much more to the project, emailing pictures to each other is easy but this is difficult.
The quickest a camera can make it from start to finish assuming everything runs perfectly (which it never does) is three weeks.
Even if the photos dont turn out to be works of art, the story of all these little connections is worth something.
