I can't believe i'm saying this, but I agree with Asher(except for the 'I can't stand Muslims' part, of course).

But that wasn't even what they were arguing against. Plus christian churches make shitload of noise, so one is all right and the other one isn't? I never said I liked either one. Loud bells should be banned. Like Ausher said, follow noise laws. I don't think you fully understand what is going on. Read up on the subject, I have been fallowing this for some time now and what is going on is just scary.

i cant stand muslims and its nice to know that theres a country which discriminates against those terrorists. That was unnecessarily racist.

I don't get you. You create a diabolical plan to help SPOTM, then you turn around and post this garbage? *shakes head*

ill rephrase then...i dont particularly care specifically about the burqa ban because im not terribly fond of muslims. similar to smoking bans in public places...i like them because i detest cigarette smoke...but i cannot stand by them on principle

Considering France are notorious for having weird laws (for example, it is illegal to name a pig "Napoleon"), it is not suprising that France would establish a law like this.
In my opinion, a ban is simply not the way to go if France want to establish a so-called 'liberal' society, or to increase security by preventing terrorists from hiding under a burqa. Why should they be banned in public places such as hospitals, stations or schools?

(for example, it is illegal to name a pig "Napoleon") It's funny cause of Animal Farm. Also, I agree with Asher, sort of, in the sense that even if I, for some reason, disliked Muslims (which I really, really don't), I would still oppose the ban on principle. No one should have their rights unnecessarily taken away, especially if it's a part of one's religion. Just think: what would Asher do if they suddenly put a ban on yarmulkes? EDIT: Warning, this will probably be very long, so just read that^ for my general opinion. I know a lot about this stuff. [rant] Okay, so maybe some of you aren't well read in Sharia law, but basically in the Qu'ran, women are told to cover their head/hair and chest (the translation of the ancient Arabic is a bit iffy and controversial, due to some disputed definitions). Some Muslims take this to mean that women should be modestly dressed (avoiding the "less clothing = more fashion"/"Hello I am a hooker" styles of the modern Western world), some say that hijabs are sufficient (the head covering with the face showing), and then some more extreme Muslims and Muslims from different cultures require women to wear burqas. A lot of Muslim women that I know see this as something beautiful: protecting their beauty instead of exploiting it. It also protects them from being seen as merely a sexual object by men, and avoids unwanted sexual attention. Of course, some Muslim women are forced to wear burqas, and are also abused. But Christian women are also abused by Christian men, as are Jews, and Atheists, and Buddhists (that doesn't seem right in my head, but I'm sure it happens). France can't stop a natural, universal tendency by focusing on a single, specific situation. Especially one that denies religious rights to others. [/rant]
