So I have a Canon Mini DV ZR950 ... and I found out that you had to have a firewire to upload videos onto the computer from the Mini DV tapes...so I went to Best Buy and the guy showed me this thing called Dazzle DVD Recorder Plus. He said it had firewire built in and came with Pinnacle... so I bought it. Now I can't figure the damn thing out. I installed Pinnacle Studio Version 12 on my computer. But I'm having trouble importing my video. Even when I go to My Computer...the computer doesn't recognize the Dazzle thing. I think it could be because I don't have a cord to plug into the S-Video slot..but I'm not sure. The Dazzle looks like this. and this is my camera Can someone help?

Right, I own one of these and you have perhaps the least suited product for the job ever. Stupid salesman. Basically: 1. Install the drivers for the Dazzle DVC 100 (http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/Hardware_Installer/readmeHW10.htm) 2. Plug in the Dazzle. 3. Open Movie Maker. 4. Select video device as the Dazzle. 5. Plug the composite cables from the camera into the Dazzle. 6. Play back the content whilst recording. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- However you probably don't have a composite out on that camcorder as far as I can tell... you need to use firewire... I'm fairly sure the camera does have one... if not can you record to the SD card? www.amazon.com/Canon-ZR950-1-07MP-Camcorder-Optical/dp/B00114LG8EI don't know if the Dazzle is the best thing to use... you probably want to return it if you don't have the composite out on the camera.

The camera only came with the audio and video cords...ya know, the red white and yellow xD I'm so not tech savy. But yeah it came with that and a USB. But the USB apparently is only useful for pictures and not video, with or without the SD Card. And like I said, Dazzle is supposed to have firewire built in.

The Dazzle doesn't have firewire built in... Okay. Revised steps: 1. Install the drivers for the Dazzle DVC 100 (http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/Hardware_Installer/readmeHW10.htm) 2. Plug in the Dazzle to the computer using USB. 3. Open Movie Maker. 4. Select video device as the Dazzle. 5. Plug the composite cables (Red, White, Yellow) from the camera into the Dazzle. 6. Enable external screen on camera (or something like that in the menu) 7. Play back the content on camera whilst recording in Movie Maker.

Yeah, Windows Movie Maker, the CD that came with the Dazzle can only record to DVD. So that wont work.
