So whats with all these crazy post count numbers? Danielle has 9k! And dont you think people that had like 1k posts on the other forum should get their post counts "synced" with their old ones? Im not saying that the post count makes you more important, but really i think they should get updated

would you volunteer to go through every account name, write down the count number and change it in the new forum? Its better this way, really reflects the unimportance of quantity of posts...

The point of the crazy post counts is to make them meaningless. Your post count will be thrown all over the place. You should be judged by what you bring to the community, not by how much you post.

So then why even have the post count visible then.

The post counts are for fun. You make a really good post, we'll give you more. You start spamming, we'll take some away.

No, instead you should keep the post counts as a post count, because that's what a post count is. If you want, you can include a quality scale or something on the side to measure the quality of posts. It's always good to keep a post count though, just to see who is active and who isn't.

There's a difference between being active and a good member.. I always thought post count was something weird. Because if you just keep posting random useless things, your post count goes up without contributing to the forum. =/

Post Counts are the most useless thing ever.#
People only want to have a high post count because they want a large e-penis. It's the most stupidest thing ever.

It would still be pretty clear if you are active or not if you use the post count as a (umm i don know what to call it ) lets say quality count. because you have to make posts to get "quality points". I think that a quality counter could replace the post count, and why not a scale to see how much you have posted the last seven days? That actually sounds like a spantaculous idea to me.

A post count for the last seven days does show how active you are.. For a bit. Though you might get a lot of spam anyway. =/

True. But if we could mark a post as spam, then we could kinda solve that. If a user gets like 5 marks of spam in 5 days. a admin would be warned and take a look at that users posts. If they are spam (altough im not quite sure how to define spam) that user would only be allowed to post long posts for 10 days. If the user gets around that and gets more spam marks during that period he will get A warning? A ban for period of time? A cookie?

I am pretty sure most people on here know what spam is and isn't.. How about turning a spammer's username red? Or any color, for that matter... As a sort of mark to tell people that spamming is not awesome?

If someone labeled me a spammer, I'd be pissed. So I don't think we should do something that I know has the potential to upset people.

But I don't think anyone would accuse anyone of spamming unless it's really serious.. There's no use to report someone. Or am I too naive?

But you dont get to know if a admin is "checking you out" or if you get marked for spam. Ofcourse if you did spam and you got that 10 day thingy you would know, so yeah you would get pretty pissed But not to say that we only like some people, but if you did spam you probably didnt have such a good intention coming here in the first place. So you will get pissed, and that will probably cause you to spam again, wich would make you get a punishment. BUt that could just spark more anger and more spam again( and hurt feelings wich isnt good either) . so yeah i guess there are some holes in that idea. so how do we clog those holes? (not that i am assuming that everything i say is law) Permanent ban, but i do think thats a bit like execution( a bit over the top ) Do you have any ideas?
