universes only branch from movement of individual sub-particles, so emotions and deja vu cannot relate to this particular theory of parallel universes, but perhaps a different one.

Actually it does relate. For all we know if we're having a deja vu moment where we feel like we've been somewhere before when really this is our first time there it's because we have been there before just not in this universe. Last year in fact as I was going threw the air plane terminal for the first time in my life I felt as if I had done it before so I'm sure that while in this universe that was my first time going on a plane in other universe I've been on planes before.

what I am saying though is that from this theory - our entire bodies would not be capable of recognizing whether or not we had done something in a different plane of existence.
While in another theory of parallel universes, deja vu is entirely possible in the method everyone is describing, this particular theory doesn't support it.

Tyme4aNewDay has the right idea here.
While we currently lack a concrete explanation of the phenomenon known as deja vu, there are many scientific theories in the works, and it has been proven to be linked to epileptics. I may be jumping the gun, but if it is shown to have a proven link to Epilepsy, a known neurological condition, then I would imagine it is nothing more than a creation of the human brain. Much the same way epileptics' brains trigger improper motor neurons, cases of deja vu could cause improper firing of neurons that control memory.
Now, deja vu doesn't only occur in epileptics; as a matter of fact, I believe something like 70% of people are said to experience it at some point, and I personally have experienced deja vu numerous times, while having no signs of epilepsy. Still, I believe it could be more readily explained by neuroscience than parallel universes.
Also, the idea that you making a different choice splits you between universes fundamentally misunderstands the multiverse theory. Nothing we consciously do has any direct effect on the multiverse. Universes also do not "split", per-say. Each time subatomic particles rearrange, a new universe is created to accommodate this paradox of one-place-and-every-place at once. So really, everything in our universe is determined by these quantum arrangements.
If you wanted to put a philosophical spin on the theory, you could reasonably claim that, since all possible situations exist in an infinite number of universes, and our universe exists due to a specific positioning of subatomic particles, that free will, or even chaos theory, is a load of crap, because by the arrangements of particles, the entire course of our universe from beginning to end is decided solely by the laws of cause and effect. Due to particles aligning the way they did, our universe forms the way it did, and due to all of these factors coming together to form our genetics and upbringing, it's impossible for us to NOT do exactly what we're destined to do, as we have no way to escape the control of quantum physics.
Something to chew on, anyways. ;P
ALSO: In regards to rialvestro's airplane terminal anecdote, there's nothing we have yet that supports any connection between parallel selves. We are not actually connected to our parallel selves in any way. Our parallel selves are results of universes that formed in meticulous detail the same way ours did, but with maybe a few trillion particles in different positions, causing just a tiny enough change, that your hand is on your lap right now rather than your desk. It's weird to think that that is a possible difference between two universes, but being that this theory postulates there is an infinite number of universes, there is an infinite number of minute differences possible between any two. =P
