Alot of it was started by texting because it's a pain to type out complete words on a phone which I agree with.

However it's a bigger pain to figure out what someone is saying when they talk like this.
Except for WTF I still don't even know what the rest of the topic title is.
And I do find it annoying when people talk like that in real life.
It's no secret that I'm not that great with spelling but I think it's easier to read words which are spelled wrong than to figure out what word a single letter is supose to represent.
To be honest I hate texting anyway. I don't see the point of it. You're useing a phone to type a message to another phone. This would be a great feature for someone who is mute but for everyone else, JUST CALL AND TALK YOU FREAKS.
Of course it's not always that easy, apperently texting is cheaper than actully making the phone call. Maybe if all phone companies had one set price insted of encourageing people to text we wouldn't have so many damn abriations for words people don't feel like typeing.
Some phones actully have key boards now which is great but no one uses them. And that function that predicts what words you want to say does not work worth a damn. Well I guess it does other people use it no problem, I use it and end up typeing some incoherent gibberish that even I can't understand.
I tend to type out words like "talk to you later" and find myself slightly annoyed when they respond "OK ttyl". Might be annoying as hell to type words on a cell phone, even more so when I can't spell the word, but I'm still going to try and not exspect people to know what a strand of random letters and numbers are supose to mean.

Lol, that first initialism was a little extreme, I gotta say!. As for texting instead of calling, most people use texting when it is either inconvenient, or impossible to make a phone call. As for the shorthand that texters use? Well, after you've typed 160 characters, your text will actually split into two texts. That means when you go to send your text, you're actually sending two texts instead of just one. It's a waste of money. Using shorthand and initialisms is not only faster, it saves space. Get with it, bro! Learn the language of the digital age! Nobody uses keyboards on their phones? This is absolutely false. 99.9% of the population that own cell phones, with a keyboard, will utilize its advantages. Even if they didn't, it's not something you should be concerned about. T9 texting, as you mentioned, is a very useful tool that will help you text much faster if you don't own a phone with a keyboard. It has its glitches, but everything does! Just look at it from an objective point of view. I'm not an avid texter, but I do recognize the good points, and bad points of using this language.

Of course they use them, but they still use the abriviations that they would if they didn't have the advantage of an actual keyboard. I can't really tell if you understood that or not. Your response isn't very clear on that point.

Take eyes to that charmkng and delightfull occurance I will admit that the language of Homer, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Mary Shellings, and many more are far more thought out and descriptive (And I admire those who make an effort to write stories and letters this way). Notice, saying "Lol tht wuz liek so funy roflmao" is only common in certain internet/network environments, such as, IMing, Texting, and Youtube. I have no beef with the people who use shorthand and initialisms when speed/efficiency is key. I do, however, appreciate a well thought out email or forum post .

You, see we acostoum to believe that is just one part of society, but no. All teens, or at least what we consider a "regular" teen, and by that i mean that he or she has access to the internet prefer to use shortage of words. And beacuse of this same thing, our brotheres, and sisters leearn this, and relinquish the fact that there are other, more meaningfull and prfound words!
So i am not exactly against it if you have excelent vocabulary bases, but lets be honest, there are just few, that can even step on the shadows, of south pole of the moons, inteligent audience
