For anyone wondering whether or not Karson is an admin, we can't answer that for sure. We as current admins are going to have to take a step back and a step together and re-do the application process for the final admin. I can't give you more details now simply because I don't know them fully myself. He may be an admin because, after redoing the applications, he may be the best choice. However, that statement goes for anyone who will be considered for the position. If you don't pick Karson as the new admin, I think more drama is to come. Just sayin'. (Unless you pick me, cos I'm a drama llama and drama almost always never happens when I'm around.)

Well, thanks for clearing everything up Dan. I really appreciate your apology it means a lot.
With my announcement thread I sensed that there was a lack of communication on choosing me. Some of the members were great with the decision, others wanted some more info on why I was chosen.
I was given the impression that the decision was completely unanimous and everyone agreed that I should be the 9th admin. I that turned out not to be the case. I respect your decision to go back and do it right this time. We don't want someone who all the admins don't agree on. That will only lead to problems.
I think your commitment to be more active on the forums is great! It will be great seeing you around the forum a bit more!
I hope this Sunday you guys come up with a great person to fill paddy's spot. It was great being with you guys for that day or so and I hope to have many more.
I also thank everyone's support though this. Everyone has been really nice and supportive I appreciate it.

1. What I really want to say is: I'm sorry. To my fellow Admins and to the moon. We really did fail you and in that large collaborative failure there were many smaller, personal failures. Many of which were my own. And for my failures, and for the situations that arose from our failures, I apologize.
2. I want to to state that I, me personally, will be dramatically more transparent. I don't like secrets. And while some of the things the Admins discuss or decide are secret a Lot of them have stayed behind closes doors solely because we didn't know what we could and couldn't say. Like Bree has already said, unless we specifically state that a certain subject needs to be kept a secret, I'm going to talk about it freely.
3. As for Karson's Admin-ness-ness, I wanna state that Karson is an awesome guy, for those of you who don't know him, he really is awesome. He's very knowledgeable in Coding and other technical skills that make a great addition to the Admin team and beyond that, he's totally Hawt. Karson wasn't my first choice when it came to choosing the next Admin and, though I respect and admire Karson for his valuable skills, I think the best method of choosing the next Admin is to go back to the beginning of the process and choose the next person with much more open communication between admins, and because this issue has become so very public, it only makes since that we consider the thoughts and feelings of the other members of the moon. I hope the next Admin is someone whom we can all admire, respect, and enjoy and ,though he isn't the only one, Karson definitely qualifies in those areas.
4. To the members of the moon: Please forgive the Admins as a whole, along with each of us on a personal level, for failing you so obviously. I love being a member of this community and I think I can and do contribute a lot to our community by being in an administrative position. but we're human guys, we screw up, and this is a great example of it. Please don't hate us because we failed, and if we fail in the future then please, if you can, forgive us then and allow us to grow stronger from it. Just like we will grow stronger from this situation.
May this Situation be but a piece of Cheese in the Beard of Awesomeness that is, The Pogotribe

I think that we can only go up from here. I mean that we can see this as a low point in our tribe, and in when we will look back, I hope that we can see this as the lowest point there would ever be.
And for the 9th admin, I think you should redo the whole process, whiping the slate clean and choosing the best canidate, based on new applications. But it is up to you.

@dan and Everyone I'm going to sound like I'm beating a dead horse, but....
I seriously think that we do not need any more than 3 admins. There is no reason to have more than 3. A vast majority of forums, regardless of topic, have only 2, or even 1. They do however have a number of moderators which keep up with the cleanliness of the boards, which from my perspective is the only thing that admins do. In the case of these boards, Dan and aajames (apparently doing a bunch of programming/coding background work for the site) should be the ONLY administrators. Having 9 administrators, is just unnecessary.
People's opinions will change based on their ranking. If you're in a position of power, your opinion will be critiqued on everything. It's hard to really have an opinion on most topics. In fact, most people that are in positions of power outside of forums (CEO's, Presidents, Judges) are very opinion neutral on most issues. It comes with the job and if they can't deal with that then the best option would be to step down. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
But yeah, less admins is more. More moderators is more.
Poor horse.

I doubt we're demoting any admins. And our role isn't the same as it is for admins on other sites (sometimes I wonder if you realize how different SPOTM is from other forums, Zak ). I agree we could do with less, but it is far too late for that, and I love everyone. Also, James knows code? I seriously, like, had no idea. Why didn't I know this?

bitch, no!!! Also, James is a techy? That was at least what I picked up. I could be wrong. At least all directions for changing the aspects of the forum were directed to him / answered by him. Still, that's not the main point of my post.

Thank you for clearing it all up, Dan. The Skype chat has been awful these past few days =/ I really hope all the Admins are willing to go through.. I really wouldn't want any of them to resign because of this- as that apparently was the case yesterday, according to what I saw posted by them. I'm sure everyone will forgive them, even if they failed :3

Thank you so much for clearing all this up. There has been a lot of confusion for everyone, and this have made everything better. Questions have finally been answered.
Also, I do believe Karson would've been a great admin. But if you have to redo the process, then do as you must.
I do believe this tribe can go back to that level 4. I think that as this community grows, and more ideas and projects form, there will be complications. More and more of these will appear, and it seems like this is the first (big) obstacle we've come across. Hopefully, we will -grow out- from this and learn to deal with this kind of stuff in the future.

I must admit having had some confusion over the number of admins. Usually anyone not involved in operating the board on a technical level is referred to as a moderator. Zak's point is worth considering, even if you don't choose to follow the advice.
Anyway, that's not what I came to post.
As someone who has admin'd and modded boards before (Most of which I no longer do; I remain a mod at one relatively casual forum and have no aspirations to task myself with any more work than that at the moment! Or my story will never get written....) I just wanted to toss it out there that the vast majority of the time mods are just ordinary members of the community who have an extra job to do. There's no need to treat anything a mod or admin says any differently than anything someone else says, unless the post specifically relates to their mod/admin job. That is, everyone should just think of them as "one of the guys/gals."
Getting a mod or admin spot is definitely a show of respect and a sign of trust from those making the decision, but it doesn't mean anyone who doesn't get it isn't worthy, nor does it mean you need to treat them any differently than you did before. They're still the people they were before. Shirt happens, the true test of a person's worthiness is how they handle it. Let's give things a chance to clear up before jumping on anyone, eh?

1. Use our awesomeness for what matters: we are all about being for and with each other. 2. Embrace our inner weird: love our [silly] humanity. 3. Have fun--getting that we are unstoppable. 4. Think impossibly big: it will still surprise us that we are bigger still... 5. Grow out [no shrinking] 6. Grow strong [thriving on the juice of living and even conflict] 7. Stand by what we know to be true, REALLY--and don't forget to. 8. Accept that we don't know everything and not knowing doesn't stop us. 9. Welcome ALL who stand by these values: we are grateful and your partners & colleagues with so much to create together.

I just wanted to make it clear the I NEVER wanted to insult the admins. As I said before, there is pretty much no spam on this forum. All I'm saying is that recently the admins have turned into some sort of secret club recently, probably as a result of the Pogotribe becoming more independent. I never wanted to insult the admins, I never wanted to insult Karson, I never wanted to insult anyone.

We can't all be nice? I only pay attention to my triad here and Dan's Pogotok's. What has happened to me? Nothing. If the Admins aren't controlling us, and this forum isn't filled with spam, it is fine. You are all making drama for no reason. Let things roll out and don't get your knickers in a knot.

Everybody saying that they don't know why we have so many administrators, I'm going to try and answer this to the best of my ability.
The admins' roles on the forum are unlike roles on other forums, and this fact will quadruple in the future. We won't be "moderators" anymore, and at that point we will add moderators to do what we do now.
I know everybody keeps saying we are some secret club or something, but we really aren't trying to be. I can only speak for myself when I say the reason I don't tell you guys a ton of what's going on with the admins is because I'm not quite sure just how secret all of these things are, or we haven't fully planned things out and they are still in the brainstorming stage. Hopefully this will be solved as we start working hard to improve the quality of admin communications and member/admin relationships.
Ya. ;P

Last week was a bad time, however the uncertanty of the other members in the congratz thread brought the problem to light? (I think?) just shows that we are not all perfect... In other news@ karson - What programming languages do you know? I would be quite interested to find out
