Any drug that can further help advance humanity as a whole, and is not detrimental to our health as a whole should be accepted. The cause justifies the means.

To clarify, I'm not saying that everything that grows naturally on this earth is going to be good for you.
What I'm saying is, if you have two recreational drugs, one that is made in nature (marijuana) and one that is made in a lab (meth), I'm pretty sure marijuana is going to be 100% better for you than the synthetic kind.
I often laugh at those prescription drug ads that are telling you how well they're going to make you, because usually a few years later there is a class-action lawsuit against that company because people got worse or had a major side affect to the medication.
Nature has been doing its thing for millions of years and has developed systems so advanced that we're still not entirely sure what's going on. To think that we can turn around and create a chemical that's "so much better" by bypassing a few "unnecessary" steps is tantamount to playing God. We usually found out that we made things worse, not better.
Now, there are exceptions, of course, but overall I think that:
A. Natural is far, far better than synthetic.
and B. (which I haven't touched on yet) Making something illegal does NOT make it go away. Those families that are torn apart? Someone smoked a joint and now they're serving a year in jail? That's criminal! We had problems when the drugs were legal and we didn't KNOW what they were doing to people, but now we understand the highly addictive nature (psychologically and physically) and are better situated to helping people control themselves. But throwing people in jail isn't helping--it's creating more problems*.
We need to legalize. It will save money. It will save lives. Google "Drug Cartels" and see what comes up. Because illegal drugs are in such high demand, enormous amounts of violence and organized crime has risen up around it. Google "Prohibition" and meet some of the most infamous people in American history.
To me, it's blatantly obvious; legalization is the only choice. Will it happen? Probably not. But I still fight for it.
* - friends of mine in the prison/jail system have often told me its easier to get drugs on the "inside" than on the "outside".

The problem with making drugs legal is that people will stop seeing them as dangerous. Many people drink alcohol but don't really process the fact that they are literally pouring poison down their throats. It can also be seen with legal highs, some of which are just as dangerous as illegal drugs but people who would never touch illegal drugs will take legal highs because they don't veiw them as, as dangerous as illegal drugs. Some people have a set of mind that if you tell they can't do something they're going to do it anyway just to prove they can.

Some people have a set of mind that if you tell they can't do something they're going to do it anyway just to prove they can. Rebelling against the law, yeah. But they're still gonna be aware what they're doing is dangerous. I dunno, it's hard to know what to think about this topic cause people should have the choice to do what they want but are they fully aware of the risks. I think i'm gonna end up going round in circles. x

Some people have a set of mind that if you tell they can't do something they're going to do it anyway just to prove they can. Rebelling against the law, yeah. But they're still gonna be aware what they're doing is dangerous. Not always. Alcohol is legal but it can lead to some illegal acts. Many alcoholics continue to drink over and over again not realizing that what they're doing is what got them into trouble before. They tend to blame it on something or someone else or just admit that they made a mistake but never connect the fact that drinking lead them to being arrested. I don't really think making drugs legal or illegal will really change everyone's mind set about them. Making it illegal doesn't tell people it's dangerous. In most cases it puts people in the hospital and they still don't see it as dangerous. Same goes the other way around. If people know it's dangerous they'd still think that way if the law never exsisted in the first place. There's also the people that got addicted to drugs knowing they were dangerous but simply don't care because they're suicidal anyway. The only real way to get rid of drugs is to stop making them. As long as drugs exsist no matter how hard they are to find if someone has access to them they're going to do drugs or not do them based on their own mind set not what anyone else tells them they can or can't do. If there are no drugs at all then the people who would normally want them will never have access to them.

Marijuana is a plant. It was put there for a reason and with a purpose.Who the fuck are we to make somethin mother nature has grown for us illegal. Why do we have to do stupid things? There hasn't been even ONE registered death from marijuana.Just happy people with munchies ;DD It sounds like you think because marijuana is a natural plant, it isn't harmful. You know that argument's full of horseshit, right? Just because something comes from the earth, doesn't make it safe. Heroin is made from poppies, and it's one of the most dangerous drugs that someone could use. It might even suprise you to know that the name heroin was trademarked by Bayer Pharmaceuticals during a peroid known as "The Great Binge". I think you should do some research on these drugs before you make wild statements about how there has never been one registered death from marijuana. It's may be true that no one has ever "overdosed" on marijuana, but the psychoactive effects of THC can cause people who smoke marijuana to do incredibly dangerous things which can cause them to die. Sorry, I got a bit off track there from the original question. Do I think all drugs be legal? It's not a simple question, so I can't give a simple answer. What I will say is that anybody who wants a drug legalized, should not be petitioning Congress, or the White House, or even the Supreme Court. They should take their arguments to the FDA and ask them to conduct studies on the drugs almost exactly how they test normal drugs looking to be legalized. They are the authority on the matter and should be consulted by the lawmakers before passing any laws that legalize a possibly harmful drug.

If they are used for Health issues they should be legalized, if they bring consequences to the Human body, it should be illegal. Simple as that. Most drugs are still bad mmmkay?

It's not simple though, You have to bring in the whole issue of whether or not making drugs illegal takes away people freedom of choice to do what they want with their own body. Also Drugs that are intended for medical use can be abused and used for recreational purposes. x

I think you missed the point of my replys. Some people have the mind set that they know drugs are bad but do them anyway because they just don't care. These people will do any drugs they can get ahold of. Making more drugs legally avalible to them would increase the risk of danger. Making more drugs illegal however would just have the oppisite effect for people with the mind set that if you tell them they can't do something they'll do it anyway just to spite you. Either way you go there are a certain groups of people who will get their hands on drugs thus stopping the production of any drugs would be alot more productive then making laws agenst or for them. BTW I'm fairly sure that EVERYONE knows how bad drinking and smoking is. We've only had that driven into our heads for 13 years of school pluse the warning lables on the packageing even tells us that. Anyone who does it just doesn't care it's dangerous.
