What's the opposite of expensive? Your mom.
What's the opposite of clean? Your mom.
What's the opposite of beautiful? Your mom.
My God, it's true!

"Opposite" just means extremely different. More than one thing can be extremely different from one other thing.

Opposite of Sour?
Sour = Acid
Opposite of acid = base
Therefore, the opposite of sour is bleach!

I suggest you check out miracle fruit. When you eat the berries, sour foods taste sweet. It's very cool, and I haven't tried it yet but I really want to.

WTF!!! so...are they really opposites? Tastes can't have opposites, its a percieved taste. Many people taste things different, but the majority of people dont percieve color different for the exception of a few, black and white are opposites.

The only one that makes any sense at ALL out of the OP's list of three is Sour vs. Bitter, and that's not even up there as an opposite. This has been brought up already, but this is because acids are perceived to have a sour flavor, whereas alkaline chemicals are perceived to be bitter. The rest.. really don't make sense.

If opposite of sour = sweet and opposite of bitter = sweet this means that opposite of bitter = opposite of sour therefore bitter = sour. They are synonyms.

Haha, I like that: If you assume that the opposite of sour and bitter is sweet, that MUST mean bitter = sour.
